All club's must now declare the fees paid to agents each year, these are ours: The Club is pleased to announce that its concerted effort to reduce payments made to Football Agents over the past year has produced astonishing results. The Club hereby confirm that in the period 1 October 2011 to 30 September 2012 the Club reduced its payments to Football Agents by over £1.5million pounds in comparison to the previous year. A total of £650,730.65 was paid to Football Agents in the period 1st October 2011 to 30th September 2012 which equates to a reduction of £1,623,843.64 from the previous year. It is also important to note that this yearâs figure is slightly inflated and misleading due to the fact that in some instances the Club pays an agent on behalf of a Player and then deduct that amount from the playersâ wages, but in accordance with the Regulations these sums paid must still be included within this published figure. This huge decrease reflects the Allam familyâs visions and strategies to run the Football Club in line with sound business principles and their refusal to continue expending large amounts to Football Agents because of the long established âfootball cultureâ. http://www.hullcityafc.net//news/article/agents-fees-oct-11-sept-12-518304.aspx?pageView=full
It's still 650k too much. Don't see why ye club should have to pay for a service for a player that only benefits a player. No need for agents, they should be kicked out the game, or at least employed by a player and not at any expense to clubs. Would help cut down on some of the money clubs have to pay out these days and agents are laughing, they mak millions from 5 minutes work. Why should they et to earn so much money for **** all?
Agree with you there BS man. Agents are parasites on the game. 75% reduction is a mighty impressive saving though. If the Allams are serious and can apply that saving the board, it should free up a lot of cash.
Couldn't this also be read as "we've paid less agents fees because we've signed less players and spent less money overall"? Surely the data would be of more value as a % of overall fees rather than total numbers?
This point. We presumably hired somebody German speaking to represent the club in dealings with the Proschwitz signing. Plus it doesn't say how much of the money is us paying an agent and then having the player pay us back when they start getting paid by us.
Well let's just tell them to **** off regardless eh? They get paid far too much for doing **** all, they is the real ones laughing in this overpriced financial mess of a sport, innit.
Don't you think clubs would of done that years ago, if they could? They are nessessary evil, you just have to make sure you don't get screwed by them.
Agents have more idea what is going on so they can be useful. They spend all their time talking to players and clubs so they know what wages are possible and what the demand is like.
This should be good news, but if we're the only ones doing it, doesn't that just mean we wont get the players we want? That would explain whu weve hardly spent anything in that time.
It depends, you've also got to look at managerial influence. Look at Aluko who joined because Bruce was our manager. If we'd still had NP or Barmby and they wanted Aluko I bet we'dhave had to offer better wages and a higher agents fee to get him talked into joining us instead of someone else.
Yes, but that only applies to a handful of players and in general it will come down to money and the team's prospects. I'd imagine we're in the driving seat to sign a player if the only competition is Charlton and Barnsley for example, but if we won't pay what the agent wants (and he's probably in charge of the negotiations) there must be a chance the player would end up at Barnsley instead because the agent prefers the move where he gets paid what he wants.
