Was worried that it was coming after the Norwich match; we looked pretty exhausted in the second half, and it was a short turnaround. Might've been worth throwing on a couple fresh bodies to start, though I understand being hesitant to break up a side that was undefeated in four.
They're saying on Final Score that he had a great game - got the one major decision spot on. Not spotting people diving didn't mean he had a poor game.
14. Newcastle - 14pts 15. Wigan Ath - 14pts 16. Aston Villa - 14pts 17. Sunderland - 13pts ------------------------ 18. Saints - 12pts 19. Reading - 9pts 20. QPR - 6pts
I think that is probably the poorest defensive and attacking performance of the season, Liverpool seemed to get all thejoy on the right and with long passes over our 2 centre backs.
I think their goal is offside. Anyone else? It's VERY tight but I think he's just off. Yes we deserved to lose it's just an observation considering the offside calls that have gone against us this season. Found some replays. It's unbelievably tight. Fair enough to let it go
Outclassed maybe, but can't help think that if we played anywhere near the level we have in some games, we could of got something out of the game. I think Adkins has to make these changes sooner sometimes, put on players with pace and something to prove who could force the issue, especially in situations like today, where no one was really on it.
Not so sure it was our worst defensive display. You're always going to be under the cosh at Anfield and the back four were left exposed too often by possession gifted further up the field. Might have been a different story if we'd managed to create a chance to actually take!
Yoshida was very poor, Fonte started the same but got better as the game went on. The attacking players looked tired and I would have changed it up a bit from the Norwich game.
I'm not sure I'd say our defence was awful, I think our shape has a very obvious flaw that Arsenal, Everton and now Liverpool have been able to exploit; if they overload us down the flanks they'll get in behind. Today Lallana put in a good defensive shift, but with Sterling, Gerrard and Johnson all combining on that side with us having no real pace to break out after they committed we were pretty much beaten.
May be worst attacking performance, but they had lots of chances and we let in only one...that will do...could have been far worse and sent our GD rocketing. Still only one point from safety.
at least Gazza did nothing wrong and saved a few, Shaw was being butt ****ed by Stirling, Johnson and Saurez but coped better than Fox would have, We had no control in the middle and terrible final passes. Morgan jogging past Gerrard to nick the ball was funny though
I get the feeling that Saints probably thought a 1-0 loss at Anfield wasn't a bad result today. Real lack of energy in the side. Mayuka must be getting fed up of never coming on. He would have been ideal today to stretch his legs and have a run at Liverpool and get in behind them. Also think he's the type of player that Gaston would like to slip passes into between defenders.
