Was at the game today and Paul Green MOTM for me today. Always getting on ball, creating chances, defending well, unlucky not to get a goal himself. He's gone from a poor man's Neil Killkenny to a poor man's Stephen Dobbie. Finally rewarded for spending all my time defending Becchio today aswell
He sounded great on the radio, was everywhere. Have to say, Green/Norris/Austin/Tonge > Kilkenny/Johnson/Howson/Clayton for me. Still think we could do with a flair player in the centre but Tonge looks really good in there! Great performance all round today
The Beeston Semplon is now really up & running, building up a fair head of steam. Let's hope we sign all our loanees in January. Not sure we'd need too much more to be honest. Great result.
I fully agree. Hall looked top drawer today. Really caused them a lot of problems and provided us with a game changer off the bench. McCormack showed us why we've missed him all over the park.
I'd bring in a quality left back, just because I don't see Peltier as a long term solution there and Warnock seems reluctant to use Drury for some reason. That, with a new striker/Somma returning, the loanees joining permanently and possibly another winger for competition and the squad's not looking far off at all.
I think we should get Hall on his permanent and sign the rest of the loanees on for the rest of the season, then get a pacy striker, another winger and a playmaker for the centre of the park.
Kiwi, thought you might be keepin a low profile after today's activites at Twickers. Anyway, back to matters north of Twickers. Don't think Peltier is meant to be a LB. RB maybe, but not LB. What's wrong with either Drury or White? Finally got two decent wingers. Let's hope we sign Thomas in the JTW. Bring on Derby. Surely at least another point if not three.
I have no interest in rugby whatsoever if I'm honest! After football it's cricket, then tennis. Rugby just isn't my thing Peltier has done okay at LB in some games, but it's clear he's not a natural there. Think Warnock's just trying to fit him in because he's captain. No problem with Drury, I actually quite like him! If he's not going to play though, I think we need to sign a LB that is going to play, because Peltier isn't a long term solution there. White, on the other hand...I just don't think he actually understands the game of football. He's incredibly quick, yes, but he doesn't seem to have any footballing ability whatsoever, and definitely doesn't have a footballing brain. A bit like Walcott was a couple of years ago. Walcott's come on a lot since then though, so maybe White will come good. I hope so, I'm just not convinced he will
I see the BBC had the W Yorkshire derby relegated to a few brief highlights after they had covered all the important games They'll probably still do that when we are in the play off places (by 1 Jan) and the auto places (by 1 March)
I disagree. While pre injury Paul Green played deep in midfield and controlled the game pretty decently with good all round passing, Post injury Green has been running at defences, setting up other attackers, playing just behind strikers, eye for goal a few times much like how Stephen Dobbie plays.
He's getting forward yes, and doing a good job as well, but primarily he's playing a box to box midfield role. He does a lot of work defensively. Dobbie does none of this. Dobbie is technically a better player, and is more intelligent at finding openings than Green. I'm with Logi, they're both completely different players. Green has done fantastic and I'm not knocking him at all, but to say he's playing like Dobbie does is a tad far-fetched.
It's worth noting that this match was the first time we'd won a league game by more than a single goal this season.
Yes he's a inferior technical player to Dobbie and less intelligent which is why I called him a poor man's Stephen Dobbie. I was mainly referring to his role on the pitch and within the team (starting attacks) not his actual ability.
I don't get the football league show....like 70% of the show is watched showing full highlights (MOTD style) of every little incident of about 3 championship matches and the last 30% is rushing through the rest of the Championship and League One/Two matches practically showing just the goals.
The BBC aren't fond on us after bates banished them from Elland Road. The commentary on BBC Leeds on Saturday afternoon had an air of "Omg I can't believe I finally get to properly report on a Leeds match!" from Adam Pope. He was practically salivating at the idea of interviewing Neil Warnock. Either way, we get extended highlights on the Football League Show more often than most clubs on account of us getting more TV matches than any other Football League club.
