Well, yea, Sotton are really just statues for the most part, but our midfield just llooks to have better balance. Lucas deep, Allen in the middle and Gerrard further up. At least Lucas can tackle which is what we've badly lacked with Allen there.

  3. Quite possibly but I wouldn't say Lucas stepping back in as already 'saved the day/season'. Good to see him back but I suspect this is an 'easy' game to bring him back in for, no disrespect intended to Southampton <ok>

I think the key thing to note that first half is Lucas' positioning. Southampton looked sloppy on the ball and that's mainly down to Lucas knowing where to position himself as a DM, he was always the breaking up play and not making things so easy for their midfield, it's always the little things that make a big difference

  6. Think it is worth pointing out that at some point between now and the final whistle, Lucas will be taken off so we really could do with a second regardless <ok>

Ha that's true. Shocking how he was time wasting at 0-0 after 20 mins

Very good half though, looks so much more balanced with Lucas in. Love the almost telepathic rotation from the front 3. Enrique and Johnson excellent as usual. Just need to be clinical, we could (and should) be home and dry already.

"Fourth place is a massive ask but that has to be our target," he told newspaper reporters. "Our objective is to hang onto the coat tails and give ourselves a fighting chance moving into January.

"The table is very tight and over the course of the next month we need to turn these good performances into winning performances.

Meanwhile, Rodgers revealed the club's strategy in January will be to act quickly.

"I think we will hopefully be able to do business at the beginning," he said.

rodgers really doesn't know what he's saying half of the time. he can't make up his mind but while we all might want to hear someons goming jan 1 the reality is selling clubs have the power... it'll be interesting to see if his words are back up by action or are just hot air.

We should be home and dry.. But like Gerrez said, we badly need a second.

What does everyone think the subs will be?

Of course Lucas but who comes on for him? Hendo/Sahin?

    Sterling?

Hopefully, Southampton will press looking for an equalizer and we can exploit the space they leave behind when we counter. I still expect a few more goals in this game! <ok>

Lucas is looking good, if a touch rusty.

We, as ever, need to convert more chances. 1 goal in 14/15 chances is nowhere near good enough.

Come on boys, let's have some deadly finishing this half! <ok>

Henderson for Lucas to play as DM. Possibly Sterling off and Assaidi/Suso on. Also if comfortable with 15mins or so to go like to see Suarez come off for anyone just to protect him.

southampton have come out in this half with a bit more about them and should be more open. A second goal in the first 15 minutes for us would kill this game off.

I know man, glad to hear things are good.

Just continuing the age old pulling the hair out watching the reds. Nothing new. <laugh>

Shelvey decision making in the final third today. <grr>
