if we lose i fear the owners may get itchy trigger fingers, we all know what the problems are but we need to start winning games starting at southampton.
my ultimate fear is that if we dont get 4th this season we can kiss suarez goodbye because he of all our players deserves to be playing in the champions league.

brendan is a good manager but he needs to be more pragmatic, his theory is great but its not exactly being used on the pitch.

You might want to retitle your thread because I agree that Southampton must win the game! Not very confident that will happen. I would bank on your boys winning by two clear goals at least. This is going to be a very emotional match for both Rickie Lambert, hails from the city and is a Liverpool fan and Nigel Adkins, who was on Liverpool's books as a youngster!!

Must win? 3points here are same as three points from anywhere else.

I'd like to believe we are not jockeying for position with soton... although we most certainly will not finish top 4 this season. I doubt we will finish top 8.

9th seems a reasonably achievable goal this season.

Who knows... maybe if we play our cards right in January we could have a squad competative for a Europa spot... but I wouldn't hold my breath.

We really need summer to hurry up and get here.

Don't think he meant it as in you're in competition with Southampton for league position but more that you need to start winning to relief the pressure on the manager.

Southampton at home ain't a bad place to start.

i agree with the above. all games are vital must win games.

I do not think the owners will get itch trigger fingers as they've appointed the guy the stiff him and everyone knows it.

I for one don't buy the anti or pro rodgers stuff on this site. I think he should be doing better in basic defending and grinding results especially when we never get beyond suarez like he said we would. he's made errors, he's done some good things too.

If we see lazy play v southampton and not a good strong postive urgent performance i'll be very angry personally. simply put they can't defend but they can score so if we don't kill them off they'll have us.

but i don't agree about 9th with milk.. sorry mate but all it takes is one papis cisse success... question is will anyone come. fans will only take owner bull so long before nothing is beleived so tom warner has made a bed to lay in so he needs to pony up

Think it would be risky to play Lucas 90 mins. I'd rather drop points now rather than risk Lucas to further injury.

A healthy Lucas is potentially worth more than three points tomorrow...

  11. No and it would be crazy to start him!

If we can't beat Southampton at Anfield, we may as well give up. Rodgers is safe, but if we continue to draw when we should win, Suarez will move in the summer, unless we get the club going in the right direction

You would be getting worried if you didn't beat the Saints whether you played well or not. If you cannot get 3 points this w/e, that means you don't know where your next win will come from...<ok>

I agree we should only play Lucas if it looks like he's really fully fit.
No disrespect to all the other Saints but we really should be able to win this game without him.
Strangely, Lucas' absence has raised his rep to mythological proportions- I hope people aren't expecting too much from him.

    ^this

Lucas is great, don't get me wrong, but he's been out almost 1.5 years straight, plus he never was the goal scorer. We may not pick up the win with him, but he may keep us from losing games. I don't see us winning what are usually goalless draws because Lucas is back...

so you think December will be easy for you?

You have Villa and Fulham at home and West ham, Stoke and QPR away. On paper these are all winnable games. If you do not get a shedloads of points this month, you will be in trouble because the next month will be harder. Your away matches are not that easy. Depends on how you start. If you get a good start you could win handsomely but if not then I can see draws for all the three. You SHOULD win your home matches but then if you don't win against the Saints, will they seem easy matches?

i agree.. for any DECENT team those games are dead easy points. losing any of them is unacceptable to decent clubs with any sort of winning mentality and this transition bullshit has to stop. you perform or you don't 12th is not performing. you can transition with a team like ours in 8th.. but the owners sacked the man who did that (with some justification seeing the signings and debacle o nsuarez)... so 12th? thats not good... but i aint MFG and think he's got to be given the money not the sack.

Reina; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique; Lucas, Allen, Shelvey; Gerrard, Sterling and Suárez

honeslty if this does come to pass then bar shelvey (sahin could be here) you've got experienced internationals all over the pitch bar enrique and sterling. you've got no 1 picks for their countries in most slots and frankly most managers in the teams listed as who we play would give thier right arm for that team.. that is actually a really talented team so for me its not performing and not getting the results it can... manager needs to do more.
