Well, yeah, but I think people were hoping to get past November without hearing stories of him possibly leaving!
Certainly don't think he'll be leaving in January, and he doesn't really imply that he will either, but I do think summer might be the end of his time here.
We won't be able to grow as quickly as he would want to play at the highest level. I mean we aren't going to get Champions League this season and I don't think he will be around next year.
Is he even our most naturally talented player? He's shown flashes, but so far Adam Lallana has looked our best player this season.
I'll be delighted if we get him for a 2nd season, but selling him wouldn't be the end of the world by a long shot. If we stay up, we'll surely spend as ambitiously as we did last summer, if not more so. Gaston will be replaced by someone as good.
Yet we all don't know what Cortese has told him, or how Ramirez views Saints. It's best just to enjoy it while he is here.
He is adapting to the english game, some of the little flicks and passes he has done even Lallana can't do.
I agree in terms of skills that actually work out Lallana probably has the upper hand. Ramirez tries more, but often they don't come off. Ramirez does love a nutmeg though, against Newcastle it seemed he pulled off a number off passes through players legs. I so wish that Lallana's volley in the 1st half against Norwich had gone in, so damn close, and would have made a lot of people sit up and take notice of his talent.
I would love it if we did a sort of mini version of Real Madrid(if we stay up). Bringing in one class player every transfer window and a few squad players.
If someone wants to offer say £25m at the end of the season then I dare say they can have him - everyone has their price and a £10m profit after hopefully keeping us in the prem wouldnt upset me too much The likelihood of a return to Italy I suggest is slim due to the difference in wages as Serie A is not flush with cash even for the big teams
I think Ramirez will stay another season if :- - We stay up. - Cortese can demonstrate to him in January/the Summer that we are bringing in more quality players to play alongside him.
I don't know why we're even discussing the possibility of him leaving, he's only just got here! He's shown flashes of what he's capable of but if he wants to move on, and we've got no real reason to think he does, then he's going to have to perform at a higher level more consistently.
Exactly this. While I generally don't have a problem being a realist, I don't want to think about losing such talent when we've only just attained his services. I seem to remember him saying something about our big plans when he spilled the beans before we signed him, so Corteses must of said something. Lets just enjoy him and hope he improves.
No news really. He has just signed for us and is happy here, but is polite enough to not say no to a return to Italy. If a German magazine had asked him would he play in Germany, he would probably say, 'Why not, perhaps one day.' He was always unlikely to stay here forever...just want him to do his best for us and work hard whilst he's under contract.
