So he's been linked with Fiorentina just a few months after moving to Saints. Bullshit.

Well let's not pretend they've made it up, it's direct quotes, if they were making it up then it'd be libel.

Perhaps better if we have the full interview? Well I've managed to find it: http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=403285

Postcard from England. Gaston Ramirez still follows the Italian league, from afar. Meanwhile you will enjoy the return of his Southampton, who has no intention of doing as an extra in the Premier League. And Gaston, who grants Tuttomercatoweb for a long talk between past, present and future, he wants to drag the sound of goals, just as we did in Bologna, where the fans are still in love. And in a few years in Italy and Ramirez could also find himself.

Let's start from the beginning: to bet certainty, thank you again for those who have arrived in Italy?
"My attorney and Carmine Longo who chose me and wanted. Bologna I spent two wonderful years, hard to forget. When I speak of the prosecutor, however, , I want to emphasize, I do not mean Vincenzo D'Ippolito: did something behind my back. "

    Stop, stop: you talking about?
"How do you defend a player if you do the interests of society? She worked for Bologna and also for me, but I did not know this thing."

Have you heard the president Guaraldi after the latest controversy?
"Not since I left him he had never called. I do not care. know that when it comes to money you do not think of anything else. Bologna I was fine, but now I just think to Southampton. "

The Bologna, is last in the standings: What do you feel?
"This year the championship is very special. Sampdoria returned to Serie A, as Torino. There are so many teams fighting for salvation: Genoa, Sampdoria, Siena and Bologna also. This year the championship is special. ever have to suffer, but Bologna will be saved because it has quality players and experience and then Pioli we can do. takes time, the results will come. "

Present at Southampton, future back in Italy?
"It would depend on the team, so many things. In England I discovered a fantastic football. But never say never in life, in Italy, as well as in England, there are many important teams."

    La Fiorentina, for example.
"It would be nice, purples are playing very well. For each game the team having fun, has great quality. Why not?
In Italy go again, I love it and I was right. "

Speaking of purple: Matias Vecino comes to the midfield, you know him?
"Yes, it's a young player and perspective. has experience in the league, Italy can do well. But it has to find space and continuity, something that young people do not is never easy. "

Another by a Uruguayan Abel Hernandez, National is broken in the crusader. The Palermo is waiting for him ...
"That day I was injured too. they told me the story, it was unfortunate as it is born the accident: Abel must stay focused and recover back what we all know.

Ballon d'Or: who would assign him?
"I have no doubt that Lionel Messi. Like him there is no one in history."

Fantasy Football: Top 11 Gaston Ramirez, start from the form?
    "point on 4-3-3."

To whom the keys of the door?
    "Buffon".

And with the defenders, what about?
"Caceres right, Bonucci and Barzagli Balzaretti in the center and left."

    The three midfielders?
    "Borja Valero, Pirlo and Pizarro."

Not bad ... and on the attack?
"Vucinic and El Shaarawy, ready to trigger Palacio".

    On the bench who would?
    "Montella I really like."

There is no player of Bologna ...
"I chose Perez, Morleo, Diamonds and Gilardino. But playing in eleven. Anyway, Bologna, it's in my heart."

They haven't exactly made it up, they've just cobbled it together and put their own spin on some fairly innocous remarks. When asked if he'd ever return to Seria A, he replied "in life, never say never", which doesn't really mean anything at all unless you're probing for hidden messages that probably aren't there.

It's not enough for the media to report news, they seek to create it -- controversy, anxiety, etc. sell copies and get clicks on web sites. Look at the media fixation on Lambert & Bent at Villa, when the real news is Bentecke! So some journo asks Ramirez if he would consider going back to play in Italy again -- sometime; and another journo twists that into "Is he actually happy at Southampton?" <ok>

We're obviously a stepping stone for him. Surely none of you could have been under the impression that he would be here for the rest of his career? Eventually he'll be playing in the Champions League, be it for a Premier League club or a Serie A club. That's the ambition of every player of his quality.

Yeah, hes come here to be a key player in the side, which he wasn't guarenteed to be if he joined Spurs or Liverpool, prove that he can cope with the physical demands of the Premier League and put himself in the shop window for the bigger teams to a certain degree. Nothing wrong with it, its win win for us. We get to have a great player for a season or so and we should make money on him aswell

This, Saints gives him the chance to showcase his ability and prove he can do it at the top level on a regular basis and can adapt to the PL. Shows bigger suitors that he can do it over here, and in the mean time he is one of the stars here, on reasonable money too. Also, when he does go we will get a good return I would think.

    Win-Win.

    Nothing to see here...move along...

He was asked if he would play in Serie A again, he's hardly likely to say "no chance" when asked by an Italian publication is he. I'm under no illusions, he's not likely to be playing here in 5 years time, unless we make a near miraculous transformation as a club. However there is no chance he'll be off at Christmas, and if we don't go down I don't think he'll be off in the Summer either.

I tend to agree - Saints signed him against all the odds, similar to when we signed Keegan and he didnt stay very long but we enjoyed watching him whilst he was here. Ramirez will probably wander back to Italia after a season or two here - the frosty mornings at Staplewood have probably got him yearning for the relative warmth of the Mediterranean !

It all really depends on Cortese's plans for us if Ramirez leaves us or not.

Likewise, a lot of Liverpool fans would be pig sick if that happened, many of their fans were desperate for him in the summer.
