After several years and countless careers, plus half a season of being totally unable to score, the (sensible) match engine changes have finally forced me to abandon my beloved asymmetric 3-2-2-2-1 formation in favour of a more conventional 4-2-3-1. RIP, hoof-mania-up-the-left-wing. It was a good run.

Fonte scored a 1.4 for me once. It said his mistakes led to four goals or something.

Jesus, I have a southampton save and played one season. Fonte was a beast for me as was hoolveld (sp?). Bought Wanyama from Celtic who was class. Ended 5th in the league but I got ****ed off in the summer transfer window where the board sold Lallana to Man City after he scored 15 goals in the League <grr>

Lallana had a poor season for me, and got relegated to the bench, so I stripped him of the captaincy. He's basically doing a Tevez on me now. Shame really, but when Ramirez and Mayuka are beasting and he isn't, what more can I do.

I'm into my fifth season and Lallana is still kicking arse. 10 assists first season, followed by 13, 17 and 16.

I never played Mayuka ever, I think my formation got the best out of him. I played a weird formation with 2 CB's, 2WB's, 1 DM, 2 CM's, an AML, a AMR, and a str.

Very attacking, usually got hammered by the big sides but against the lower sides I usually got a lot of goals against. Couldn't get the best out of Lambert at all, which is a shame as he was one of the reasons which I chose Southampton.

I put Mayuka on the RW as an Inside Forward, and last season he got an Ave Rating of 7.26, including 9 goals and 17 assists. Unfortunately he broke his leg with a few games left so it's put him back massively.

Lambert got 17 goals in 30 games in 2012/13 but again he got injured with a few games left so JRod took his place. He went on to score about 6 goals in the last 4 games, became undisputed starter for 13/14 and duly scored 28 goals in 35 games.

Least favourite addition to the match engine: players making head-high, guided missile 'back passes' that the keeper then has to head directly into the path of on-rushing attackers. This has happened at least five times this season...most to my benefit, but still comically silly to watch.

Think this regen of mine might turn out okay:

Solid enough. Quite weird stats though, could do with being either stronger or faster, depending on how you want to play him.

Just noticed I have some clauses on a youth player at Chelsea, who I have no recollection of joining our youth team, and all of his Favoured Personnel are Chelsea staff...wonder if they've implemented some sort of system that mimics situations similar to what we have we Lallana...or maybe my memory's just ****.

Yeah that's a new feature. Your staff/other clubs sometimes poach other youngsters before they spawn in the game. I had a rubbish youngster poached by Man City.

Oh yeah, the guy's only got 1.5* PA. Still, pretty cool feature.

Fonte is an absolute machine on this game, him and Curtis Davies are two of the most in-form players in the league.

Only in November and he's already been called up to the Portugal team.

Fonte has not been my first choice for a while now, and he's leaving at the end of the season. I have Neuton, Munoz and a youngster called Owen King ahead of him.

Lallana is out of my first XI now, Grosskreutz, Torje, Lamela and Caprari all ahead of him.

Bit of a flawed system, this. The match engine can't clearly show you whether a decision was right or not, and there are also no positives for complaining about a decision. Not sure why this feature is in the game.

Same with the appealing against a red card. Never seems to work.
