I mentioned a while back when the FC subject appeared on the boards early season that if we stood a chance of landing him then we would be foolish not to go for it. FC in this league is a goal scorer, Aluko has covered the cracks by his wonderful start to the season, but it seems Simmo is feeling the pave a bit (1 in last 10 games I think SB quoted). Fc is a direct quick and dealy forward in this league, Ok he had injuries last season, which may have taken the edge of his play in the Premier league, but given a half season with us in the Championship I believe he would soon be up to speed again, and fingers crossed grace the PL next season with us together with Aluko. Chris WOOD was also be a strong aquisition, look at the effetc Lambert, Holt, Morison, and Graham have had in previous seasons, strong leaders of the line who can score a goal or three. A good squad needs 4 good forwards, we currently have 1 and a half in Aluko and Simmo. McLean for all his efforts is not a goal scorer need 20 chances to convert one, Matty is out for the season, and Prozzy is just not ready for the physical challenge of this league yet, needing to toughen up. If I was SB I`d be having a real good natter with Papa and wee ALLAM, a max of 3 million spent now on these two would reap dividends of an 80 million pound fortune from the Premiership I feel sure.
I thought Wood was going to go on the cheap, due to him being out of contract in the summer, but it seems that the Baggies have an option on him for an addition year and are only going to let him go if they get a decent offer for him.
They are saying on twitter that Millwall will offer 1 million for Wood. Also do you think Windass and Campbell are tight enough that Windass could convince him to come back? http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-17477096-detail/story.html?
That's true, but that's only since Simpson has been dropped. Since we started playing Brady and Elmo on the wings (last two games) we're getting soem awesome balls in the box but we dropped Simpson at the same time and replaced him with Koren, a midfielder who looks lost up front and just isn't used to arriving early onto those balls. If Simpson was playing he'd be feasting on those chances. Prossy might do a lot better with this kind of service too, but to me it just seems daft having this game plan of getting the balls whipped in when we're playing without a real centre-forward.
Campbell came on for Sunderland today, last 10 mins or so, and I don't think he touched the ball. They're proper ****e at the moment. So that's my scouting report; dint do nowt mate.
he's clearly MON's 4th choice cause the boy Wickham came on instead of him at half time so he's behind him, Sess and Fletcher. If they were to bring in someone else in Jan then I can't see anything preventing a loan move somewhere.
I hope that phone call went well. We won't know until a couple more weeks though. Maybe FC was the reason Bruce had to 'nip off' and couldn't speak to Blunderside?
I think Campbell has had 2 serious knee injuries and missed too much football. I'd rather have Chris Woods if I'm honest - or one of the Davies (Bristol or Barnsley).
Chris Wood would be a good buy but the other two are championship players at best and we need to aim higher than that
That is the problem. He hasn't played enough football - here, he would be a starter straight away, meaning first team football, which would allow him to show us if he's still got it.
Won't be going after another of our ex strikers. Gone to Malaysia. http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/1717275/Ex-Ireland-international-Folan-joins-Malaysian-clu?
We are aiming higher than that, we really need players who can do it in this league. Then if we get promoted we move them on or keep them. The fact that Campbell has played very few games and has had 2 serious knee injuries would give me cause for concern. A hungry player scoring at this level in a **** team, to me is a better bet. Look at what Reading did signing Le Fondre - question marks over him at Championship level! He doesn't look out of place in the Prem.
Sometimes you should gamble on a player though. Reading did it with Le Fondre and look at him now. It's a gamble worth taking if im being honest.
