Well one thing I have learnt this season is that we need teams to come at us and play a fairly advanced defensive line for us to be truly effective. Last night Puncheon especially was surging forwards and seemed to be constantly surprised to find their penalty area full of defenders. This won't be so much the case against Liverpool, so hopefully that will help us out.
What do you think of Gerrard?, alot of Liverpool fans I know say he looks past it this season. Not trying to WUM just a question.
I've watched a few of Liverpool's games this year, and whilst I agree that Gerrard hasn't looked as good as usual, it's worth bearing in mind that this measurement is taken from a pretty impressive starting point. In short, he's still pretty handy, and still has the ability to quickly change a game if you give him half a chance. As an aside, any chance of Joe Cole getting a game at the weekend. Thought he looked very sharp in the UEFA cup game I watched him in the other week. I'm a bit o a closet Joe Cole fan though to be honest.
Been saying it for a while. He's off the pace, constantly lookiing for wonder balls which aren't coming off and shooting wildly. Problem is we've got him in front of the back where he expected to get forward, pass forward and also track back and defend which he doesn't have the legs to do anymore. He does however put a good ball in from free kicks. Once Lucas is back and match fit we can stick him further forward where he can focus on attacking and hopfully he'll improve. He has been a passenger at times this season. Only game he's been good was against United where he had an incentive. I think part of it is his lack of competition and the knowledge he won't ever win the League. We've played well a lot of the time this year pinging the ball about - but seriously lack penetration. Gerrard and Shelvey are the only ones with the vision in the heart of midfield. You stop the line to Suarez and you'll get a draw, maybe even a win. If you don't we'll beat you by 2 or 3.
He seems to have made a habit out of stamping on people as well, wonder who will be his victim this time...
Points from this game are a bonus to me. I'd rest Morgan to make sure he does not pick up a card. I'd rather have him for Reading. I'd put JWP in his place. It has been a while since he has played but I really thought he played well early on. I'd like to see Richardson on the bench ahead of Fox if he is ready. Saurez is the key. I hop eNA has something up his sleeve. As for keeper, it is a coin toss. To me Gazza's error did not cost us the points because we had 45 minutes to get a goal and did not. Against Swansea I would say he did because there was little time for us to get a goal when "the kick" happened. All 3 have their problems.
This is because white is our official second strip. The Liverpool game is the first opportunity to wear it. We are also unbeaten in all white.
