I think The Man of Constant Sorrow (or whatever it's called) should be a Pompey anthem (unless those lyrics are from it, I don't recognise them)

Yeah, yeah you're right of course. I took 'strong personalities' to mean 'egotistical bitches'. I'd rather be too nice than one of them tbh. Still on the brights side the commute would be have been awful.

How long before jokes about Two Little Boys come along?

"Now then now then, it's Rolf Harris with two little boys" for example.

You're right, they were from "Man of Constant Sorrow". To be fair, when the film came out the song would have made a better Saints anthem!

Beckham cannot play at the highest level anymore, but would never play at a low level in England. Although his days in LA were no doubt enjoyable on many levels, he probably should have spent another couple of years in Europe. Any job he takes now will have attractions for him beyond the football element. Who wouldn't fancy Monaco as long as you had the money to enjoy it.

I'd like to see him go to an up-and-coming league like Australia or Japan. Obviously he's thinking about his family first and foremost now, but it's a shame that's taking him to such a dull league.

That would work if you named the two teams.

Hopefully Beckham doesn't sign for FC Anzhi Makhachkala (yes I copy and pasted :)).

Alot of the best sportsmen are like that. I played football for years with Graham Thorpe and he didn't have many friends in the world of cricket either. He was said to be "difficult", but undoubtedly a great cricketer.

Amazing that the SAS bloke got released, it was stupid in the first place to arrest him.

That would be a travesty, but it would never happen. He's not going to take the wife and kids to live in Dagestan, no matter how much money they offer him.

And their games are patrolled by armed guards. Still doesn't sound too appealing for old Becks, I reckon.

Becks went to LA because it was a nice place that suited his wife's career and he fancied helping to promote football in the US. He says that money is not his motivation and I believe him as he is so rich. Monaco might make sense for his final years in football, because it is a pleasant place convenient for his family. Australia would also be nice, but hardly convenient for his wife who operates between Europe and America. As someone said, he would never take his family to a Dagestan/Moscow. I can see him in the future involving himself in charitable causes and promotion of football worldwide, but for the moment I think it will be a European club.
