There is a bit of an idiot behind me that started abusing gazzaniga, bear in mind he booed mayuka thinking it was guly.
Radio Solent's Adam Blackmore: "After just speaking to Nigel Adkins, I'm still going to write Gazzaniga on my team sheet for #saintsfc game v Liverpool"
And rightly so. (in my opinion) I made clear why I feel that last night, but we will see. I'll back whoever is in goal. Would you all stick with the same outfielders??
Way you have to look at is De Gea was the same when he started for Man Utd, him and Gazza are around the same age so both are improving.
More from Nigel Adkins: "We've got to have confidence in him because we feel he's going to go to the very, very top." "He's stood up and taken responsibility, and I think that's going to stand him in good stead for the future."
Yeah but to be fair, De Gea's shot stopping has always been outstanding. His only problem was in the air. Gazzaniga has several problems that he needs to sort out before he becomes a top keeper (and I've no doubt he will, it's just at the moment that I have huge doubts that he's the right one to have in goal at the moment).
It's just a fitness question. No one had the same energy yesterday which was hardly a shock, and it's the same gap to the Liverpool game. The main candidates to come in are Davis, Rodriguez and Mayuka, but I think he will try his best to stick to the same eleven. The first two at least would not surprise me though. I wonder if Nigel will put Ramirez against Downing... Also Bale's own goal was really funny.
I thought Paulo looked decent in one on one's, like De Gea. I'm with Beefy, stick with Paulo at least until January.
Liverpool must be the favourites, but we have a good chance if we play at our best. I'm concentrating on games against relegation candidates (and that won't include Liverpool), so anything is a bonus before we move onto Sunderland, Reading and Fulham.
Another difficult one to call. I can't see us keeping Suarez out for 90mins. I hope we can come away with at least a point but I'd take a loss in this one if we were guaranteed the win against Reading.
We need to rotate a few tbh, our players looked knackered in the 2nd half. Mayuka, Davis, Rodriguez, maybe Prowse as well need to come in. Shame we don't have a like for like replacement for Ramirez as he was knackered.
Way Liverpool are playing it could be, alot of Liverpool fans are saying soon as their team is attacked with pace they have had it. A few even saying Gerrard is now past it and is just a passenger. We are only 4 points behind them so they are very much in the battle.
I'm very pleased that Morgan has still not picked up his fifth booking, as he (and Cork) have become the backbone of the team. I would keep the same outfield 10, not sure between Gazza and Boruc and glad it isn't up to me. The one thing that Nigel must do is make substitutions at the right time. The game last night was crying out for the pace of Rodriguez and Mayuka to come on for Rickie and Puncheon after about 60 - 65 minutes.
A good comparison except De Gea had two seasons behind and had played in a major tournament. Our goals conceeded ratio has dropped bigtime in the last 7 games and Gazza has been a major factor in this. He has played 8 times for us and has ****ed up twice, for a player of only 20 is that the end of the world? Im sure all the players would put thier hand up and say they have all had shocking moments this season
I am thinking the same about last night, but there must be a good reason why Adkins was relucant to sub people. For me v Liverpool it should be same starting outfield players with SKD in goal. If so i can see Davis having to come on for Rameriz early in 2nd half, but much depending on the match situation at the time.
