Just my thoughts but I feel despite Arteta playing his role well he doesn't really buzz around the field charging into challenges comgesimg the opposition. He tends to sit in front of the back four busting a gut to make interceptions or challenges when the opposition is in our final third. I feel he's more influential when a song type dm is playing along side him and that also constricts the opposition. I also believe Walcott ought to be given a chance as striker but that will imply forgoing a striker In the jan window unless its Henry on loan. I also believe oxo is more of a cm. he tends to keep drifting in even when playing out on the Wing. Obviously this deprives us of width so what I feel we should do is purchase a winger such as zaha and a dm my preference being strootman.

    Szez
    Sagna/jenks mert verm/kos Gibbs/verm
    Oxo/wilshere/Arteta strootman/coquelin santi/Ramsey/eisfeld
    Zaha/Walcott Giroud/Walcott pod/gnabry (yes I still believe he deserves a chance!)

Vey hypothetical especially in the short run but I believe it can work and provide depth. Sorry for the long winded post btw! Oh and as you've probably noticed I would play Ramey as an am when resting santi..an unpopular decision I know but that's where he played prior to injury.

Arteta's form has been poor for a few games now. I don't think we can judge him unless his poor form continues. Before this form, he was far better than Song ever was.

All this talk about "should Walcott play as a striker or should he play on the wing?"... it's silly. He plays as both. It's basically the Barca system we're playing now. When Ibra/Etoo were at Barca, Messi's role is Walcotts. It might deprive us of a little width, but playing him alone up front would be far worse.

Exactly. Walcott's current position is perfect for him. He is scoring goals and does not have to do the donkey work that Giroud has to do when playing through the middle.

We still need a 'World Class' centreforward if we want to compete.
    Walcott is fine as WF.
