UEFA are considering allowing 7 english teams in the champions league, and scrapping the europa league, they are talking about 2014 -15 may be a possability. Surely that would be the goal for huge spending by us to get there. Chelsea made £49 m by winning it last season, it would be a dream premier league with so much to play for.

Don't like this idea one bit and as for Chelsea and the 49m for winning it. We will never be anywhere near that position. Champions league should be for champions only and then 2 cup winners and 2 highest league positions for Europa.

You don't think we are going to be relegated then? :)

New champions league format is a load of bollox... Next it will be goodbye premier league for the top six clubs as they enter a permanent champions league.

If they want to change the Europa League, they should make it a proper knock out tournament. Like the F.A. Cup. Would be a lot more exciting imo.

This is all about getting the Man U's, City's, Barcelona's, Milans, Madrid etc into a European league.

There is far too many teams and games in Europe as it is..The powers that be have already managed to get rid of the once highly valued Cup Winners Cup, they then went on to totally devalue the UEFA (Europa) Cup, which in my opinion is now a joke, so now they are going to do their best to trash the Champions League.

I wrote something on the BBC606 site a couple of years ago. Bit long winded but this is the basic premise.

Top 2 of the leagues go into a European league (1st year of it) i did say 3 2 years ago but changed it to 2.

    Man C
    Man U
    as an example

year after, the bottom teams of the respective countries get kicked out

    4th Man City
    5th Man United

Man U have to go to the PL and say Chelsea win the PL so they go into it. Man U cant enter it for 2 years even if they win the league.

    Season after

    2nd Man City
    6th Chelsea

Man City have been in for 2 year so have to make way, Chelsea finished below Man City they they have to, Man U win the PL but they cant enter so it goes to 2nd/3rd place in the PL Arsenal/Spurs

    Season After

    1st Arsenal
    3rd Spurs

Spurs get kicked out, Man U win the PL so they get in, Arsenal won the European league so they get another 2 years but it only happens once.

the 1 reply i did get was "dont be ****ing stupid, its a recession, fans cant afford it, will never happen" my reply "and Uefa gives a **** about what the fans can afford"

This way there is a healthy turnaround, Man U/Barca wont be in it for years and years and get all the best players (suppose they do anyway but the damage will be minimul) as when they get kicked out, and another gets in, they will get the cash and the players.

There are loads of pros and probably even more cons, but its the fairest way I can see.

This has been on the cards for years. Give the European Cup regulars enough time and wealth to be years ahead financially and then let other hopefuls join as chopping block teams. Sky, Russian and Arabian wealth will prevail eventually which is why Sky is fragmented to each country at different rates. Euro Sky will mint it and only the bottom teams will be dropped to make way for the new batch of hopefuls.

Go back to 1990 when Sky could not get a deal to suit them with the FA so engineered the Premier league. It started with the Monday night game and went downhill from there.

well luckily the Johnsons paint trophy is just League 1 and 2 so at least we have a year and a half minimum before we have to worry about that. Mind you we have a lot more chance of that than any CL participation.
