I'm watching the scrolling text (live!) on the BBC website - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/9474173.stm - as I've no TV at the moment (dish came loose from the wall again). Anyway, the BBC is saying that The Daily Record is going for a headline of "Eck On Verge Of History". I'm not sure if this headline will please you or not, but I would happily enough settle for that - subject to various qualifying clauses. I've no real sense (from Ireland) whether this election has galvanised the Scottish public. Also, I had no idea it would take so long to count all of the votes. I'll stay up for the first few declarations (expected around about 2am, apparently), but anything else would seem almost creepily enthusiastic.
Psycho DR headline is a bit vague. Basically, SNP have won which is historic because it's the 2nd time they've won! Happy with that if it's true (which it is!)
It’s not that I don’t believe you, Stereo, but I had to check for myself. No official exit polls. Hmm. I’d like to share your confidence and enthusiasm, obviously, but I’m always minded to expect the very worst in any given situation until the very best has been and gone. Keeps me steady. And profoundly joyless. (Update: The Herald is going for a Salmond second term. That's more like it.) Dev – that nearly made me smile. (Trust me, this is high, high praise.)
