I dont know why some of you have decided to start picking hairs over Luke Hyam! The fact is we are much better when he is playing and he will be a future star for Ipswich Town for many seasons to come. All of us have been crying out for a player that we can idolise ever since the days of Holland etc and now we have one just enjoy it. Hyam will only get better and better!
I think that's the point in a nutshell. Hyam has the potential to be the talisman of ITFC and if nurtured does have the talent to live up to the hype. I think we can all agree that he would be one of the first name on any of our teamsheets and none of us would go searching the markets to find a replacement.
It was lovely to hear the SBR singing "He's one of our own.... He's Lukey Hyam!...He's one of our own!" Great stuff! We haven't had a decent song about a player since Pablo!!
Did you make it last night then JWM? Was certainly good to hear some positive vibes around the place and watch a match with a bit of tempo to it. Hopefully we can continue with starting games with that attitude.
Yeah I took my boy with me... It was a great atmosphere last night and it was good to see so many happy faces leaving the ground for a change! Yes there will be plenty more bumps in the road but we beat a good Forest side last night and you have to be happy with 7 points from our last 3 homes games!
Very true, just annoying the team didnt turn up against Peterborough. Those additional two points would have been very welcome, especially against a team down at the bottom with us. I think MM must have given them a bollocking though because the attitude was first class from beginning to end last night.
Many positives to take from last nights game with Barnett, N'Daw, Smith and of course Hyam all playing well. We must now build on this and get something out of Bolton on Saturday. With confidence gained from last night I can't see why we shouldn't get at least a point!
I've just done the number crunching, over the last three seasons, bearing in mind how dismal we have been, our win percentage when Hyam starts has been 48% compared with 32% when he doesn't. We have lost a third of the time when he starts compared to 46% when he doesn't. And somewhat interestingly, in the four games he was taken off at half time the result was worse after 90 minutes than at half time. When he has come on as sub we have lost three and drawn two, in most cases the game was long gone when he was brought on.
Another one I forgot to mention: if you extrapolate out the results of the 27 games he has started, over 46 games we would have 75 points.
You've got far too much time on your hands Yorkie but I take your point! We are better with Hyam than without.
You may be right but I recall both Keane and PJ bigging him up tbh so only time will tell with this one. I have a funny feeling that when NRC is fit he will replace him. Not something I'd like to see but all I'm saying is its a bit early to say finally we have a manager who appreciates Hyam when he's only played one match and he's come in because another player was injured!! I hope you're right but too early to say that tbh
