I get the feeling from SB's post match interview that he's not currently overly impressed by our strikers, I can honestly see us bringing Fraizer Campbell AND another striker into the set up come January, the other one may well be Chris Wood or Kenwyne Jones, and it wouldn't surprise me if the FC deal is done on the basis of a loan until the end of the season with the option to buy if we get promoted. As has been mentioned, FC would be a like for like replacement for Aluko should he get the call up, but that would STILL leave us a striker short as Fryatt is out for the season, and I think that SB would like a striker in the mould of Jones, a strapping CF that can get his noggin on the end of the stream of quality crosses that we're producing, I dunno whether Wood is a similar type but if so I could easily see two out of the three named players plying their trade at the KC in just over a months time.
Can't see us bringing in two unless we offload one and I quite like the idea of McLean coming on from the bench so i wouldn't get rid (unless we can recoup decent cash for him)
I honestly can. It would be nice to offload one of our non scoring forwards but I don't think it will be dependent on that. If Aluko is missing for much of January then it is only logical that FC is brought in to bolster the ranks, I don't think SB will have any problems selling that to our owners. Equally, as our owners watch most, if not all, of our matches they, along with SB, will see the quality/number of crosses being wasted because we don't have the right type of striker to feed off them, and equally I don't think SB will have a problem selling the fact that Wood/Jones could quite easily be the solution, you never know it may be the owners selling it to SB! Remember last season? The Allam's (I'm not worthy!), I feel, are desperate for a return to the PL, and will provide, within reason, whatever it takes to get back there.
Read a good article by John Motson yesterday about foreign players 1st season in english football...Bergkamp,Henry,Cantona,Nistlerooy,Drogba to name but a few had **** 1st seasons n they turned out ok.So lets give Prozzy yet more time.Burnsey seemed to think outloud about FC last night,so guess he knows something.
Got to say that Palace appeared to really miss Murray last night, a big lad that holds up play and gets his noggin on then end of deliveries, seems that this is the same problem we experience, having someone to lead the line. I recall a certain Steve Morison bullying our lot when he played for Millwall in similar vein. Perhaps a cheeky bid that way given that he seems to be playing a bit part at Norwich may reep dividends, he who dares Rodders !
If we're getting Campbell, it will be on a permanent, they won't let him go out on loan for the final six months of his contract, they'll want to cash in.
Don't think it will be Jozy Altidore. http://footylatest.com/tottenham-and-chelsea-set-to-go-head-to-head-in-battle-to-land-usa-ace/36331?
Didn't realise that Lambo, so that's at least three permanent signings we'll be making in January, Campbell, Stockdale one from either Wood or Jones
Was it really that Lambo or was it just the curse that struck again, strikers playing for us can't hit a barn door, they move on and become instantly prolific!?
Shows how far he has come from headbutting Alan Hutton. (Not that that is necessarily a bad thing to do)
IMO, nothing happened to warrent the award of a penalty. the so called handball would have been harsh. As for that Blunderside crap by Matt Dean about "should Brady have been sent off" what the fooook was he watching at the time ? the ref got that also spot on as we had a player covering. Brady knew what he was doing. For the record Hull City are the ONLY team still to be awarded a penalty. Palace have had 10 so far and scored from 8. Its a fair bet that Steve Bruce will bring in 2 loan strikers for the 2nd half of the season to add to what we have got. It would be madness to sign anyone permanant until we know which league we shall be in next season. Kenwyn Jones was mentioned after the game by a caller and thats a good shout actually as a loan. imo.
