United haven't been consistently top for 10 years now. You are a sinking ship and not even the best side in Manchester now never mind England. You fluked your way to 2 CL finals and were aptly found out and humiliated by Barca on both occasions unlike Chelsea who they respect and have always given them a game.
No offence but the Sunderland analogy is bollocks. La Liga wasn't quite the two horse race it is now. Deportivo La Coruna were also challenging for and winning La Liga around that time. As pointed out you seem to have completely overlooked Fergie's achievements as a manager in Scotland. Football wasn't invented in 2004!
Are you sure we haven't consistently been a top side for ten years? We seem to have had a lot of first and second placed league finishes!
Only as long as you can offer the biggest wages. Be honest, most of them have only recently become vaguely aware of City and Chelsea.
Yes like World Cup winners Desailly you mean Trophies and Wages, that's what players care about. Chelsea and City can offer both, United can only offer one.
As a frame of reference United McFans in 'peace', trying to be helpful have told us that: * Roy is a good manager and we should give him a few more years * We should just go into administration and regroup later * Carrick is better than Alonso and we should buy English * We should sack rafa and afterwards we'd get better * We should sell Suarez The funny thing is they genuinely believed all that. They were being sincere. I think the brainwashing they self-impose is so comprehensive they become Manchurian Candidates. Quite frankly you'd be better off getting immigration policy advice from New Labour and ethics advice from Goldman Sachs.
Desailly was at the *** end of his career and Chelsea offered him buckets of cash. You do realise Bates nearly bankrupted Chelsea at that time! I think United can offer both trophies and wages, the latter for the right players only though. If a good player wants to come to United, like van Persie, then they'll pay him the market rate. It's correct though that United can't pay the likes of Torres and Adebayor 200k a week. Not sure Chelsea and City will continue with that policy for much longer either.
How boring is this debate with glory hunting mancs?? If you're bothered about trophies that much go and support Madrid.
I think it's some Chelsea fans who are at pains to point out how many trophies the club has won since Roman started bankrolling it and that with his money they will win more trophies in future. You seem to be paranoid about United fans being glory hunters. I suspect most on here were supporting United while you were still mastering a Farley's rusk. Have you got a chip on your shoulder? Gullit the first Chelsea manager you remember? Maybe Vialli? RANIERI??!!
As I come from Essex and know more Man U 'fans' than fans of most London clubs, I think I'm in a good position to judge how glory hunting the majority of your fan base is. From experience, fans who chirp the loudest about success are those that only follow the more successful clubs for a reason. P.S I started going to games when we were toss in the 80's so about as far removed from the glory hunting mancs camped here as can be.
Lots of Chelsea fans in Essex apparently, never understood why. So in a nutshell, United are broke, can't attract players or win trophies whereas Chelsea are loaded, can attract players and will win trophies but the United fans are the gloryhunters. Interesting theory!
The only debt Chelsea had under Bates was down to the ground redevelopment but hey you continue with your blind prejudice you manc ****.
Why is it so many Chelsea fans are incapable of communicating without resorting to insults? It just fuels the, perhaps accurate, stereotype that a large part of the following is made up of bigoted, neanderthal twats. Is that why the likes of Terry are heralded as heroes and ruining a referee's life is just part of the game at Stamford Bridge? But anyway, we agree Chelsea were hocked up to the eyeballs when Bates flogged them.
You get more Arsenal and Spurs fans generally in Essex and a fair few Hammers too but thier are a fair few of us blues too. The glory hunters were mostly picked up in the 90's when United won the league every year, bought most of the best players and had the most money. Personally I don't mind United that much, they don't generally seem to begrudge our recent success as much as Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs fans; though this thread is leading me to re-evaluate that!!
Market rate? Lmao one of your players held your whole club to ransom until they offered him what he wanted in order to fund his granny shagging addiction and he now earns more than anyone ever has at Chelsea.
