Rootkits on a netbook

How do I get rid?

I have the free AVG and I've ran a scan, it finds them then says that it's got rid of them (3 rootkits) then tells me to reboot, which I do, then when I run a scan again, they're still there.

How do I get rid of them or is the only course of action to kill someone?

 

Use something better than AVG

AVG isn't getting all of it. It's leaving behind a bootstrapper that is getting launched when you restart, which re-installs the rootkit.

 

You need a rootkit remover, this one from kaspersky is by far the best. http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363
