    How do I get rid?

I have the free AVG and I've ran a scan, it finds them then says that it's got rid of them (3 rootkits) then tells me to reboot, which I do, then when I run a scan again, they're still there.

How do I get rid of them or is the only course of action to kill someone?

Thanks Sean, that's absolutely amazing, thanks for that, where do I send the cheque to? How much? £500, that's cheap as ****. Here you go, superb, thanks again, hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and life for that matter, absolute champ you are, amazing, thank you so much, I'm ecstatic at this advice, seriously, thanks. I love you, you may harvest my arsehole and plant a salty seed on my colon.

You're welcome. Honestly though you might have to reformat and re-install your operating system

AVG isn't getting all of it. It's leaving behind a bootstrapper that is getting launched when you restart, which re-installs the rootkit.

If I were you, I'd ask ER to look into it for you.

When your netbook is on the boot screen press F8, then boot the machine in Safe Mode with Networking. Run the Kaspersky tool from there and it should be able to find and delete the files.

Thanks gents, in particular to Sean.

All I'm waiting on is ER to get back to me, no doubt his advice will be that netbooks are for ****s, but it's my daughter's and I'm trying to fix it.

    Thanks

Believe it or not I had to use Kaspersky to remove a virus from my son's netbook last night using the safe mode boot.

Reckon our kids have been exchanging the bad porn?
