Ah, I see what you did there I meant that Bent wants to play so I can't see him joining a club where he will still be on the bench. Of course Villa to Liverpool is a step up, not sure how big that step is since we both have quality youngsters in the first team squads having reduced the club wage bill
Interesting move if LFC sign Tom Ince. Not content with giving away players they paid for, now paying for players they gave away Tony Barrett of the times ( v reliable ) saying we are in advanced talks to sign him
Totally agree, 6D. What's the point in this? It's a total waste of money and rings of amateurism. How many clubs release players only to re-sign them less than a year later? Us, apparently!
I think the thing we have to consider is that the team is being run by a different person now. If Rodgers wants to sign him then ok. Ince has 12 goals in 18 games for Blackpool this season.
I read this quote on Twitter last night: nice and catchy: like something the rags would make up in one of their stories about us. From what KD has stated (also on twitter) Ince was offered a new contract last year but turned it down for first team football elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. Our then management team didn't believe it was worth pursuing. Fair enough; they lived & died on their decision making and I fail to see this as their worst one. Any reports I've read say there was a compensation arrangement between us & Blackpool so I'm assuming we either didn't "give him away" and/or its terms allow us to get him back much cheaper. Wonder if the difference will be much more than the contract offered & then him sitting in the reserves which is what would have most likely happened if he'd accepted our original offer or if we had increased said offer to keep him? Plenty of teams have let players go and then bought them back most notably....Barcelona; sometimes at great expense for a much improved player. Is Ince a much improved player to the one that left us? He's playing in a different league so not sure but I suppose it will depend on how much we have to pay for him.
Dortmund and Marco Reus. Let him go for being weak and small, they bought him back for around £15m and is one of their best players.
Not saying I believe the rumours would be some miracle if we pull it off but Harry I think is a big fan of Cole so could be some truth in it.
Only because Jole Coe is one of the few players in the world who's name 'Arry might be able to spell I can see why he took the PQR job now
As for Bent, I'm pretty sure a little bet on him going to Sunderland (who need goals, have money to spend and his old manager), might not be the worst bet.
