A warm hello to all United fans â for those who donât know me (most probably!), well itâs a Royals fan 100% in peace here. Please do see the âNot 606â Reading board for our news and preview on the game â http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/181692-Reading-v-Man-Utd The fullest respect is shown to Manchester United with full information produced equally for both sets of fans â but in all honesty far, far more on your team. It would be really interesting for us to have any comments from you put up here (or there on the Reading thread), like how you see the game going and general thoughts on your own team, and your (honest!) opinion of Reading. I know some people donât particularly like other fans producing a shopping list of questions to answer, and I perfectly understand that, so I leave any comments freely and totally with you. But if you like, these simple following points might be used as a very basic guide in case youâd like to write to something slightly longer, but donât feel at all pushed to go along this road if it doesnât suit you: A] What do you feel are currently the strongest areas of YOUR squad, and who should Reading individually look out for / fear most? B] Any young stars coming through the academy that we should keep an eye on, now or in the future? Any thoughts on the new U21 league? â there are three mini-leagues of course, but youâre in a different group from us, we might meet up later on in final stages ... C] Well, itâs a re-run of last season at the top of the premier so far. The two Manchester clubs are really turning the heat on â what with Arsenal and Liverpool falling away a bit of recent times, and even Chelsea with a wobble or two, might it be becoming simply âthe big twoâ now? And are you convinced United have it in them to be champions this time? D] How strong do you see the general level of the premier this season, and any general opinions of Reading FC and our current football - either for or against (you can be honest!). Do you frankly see us surviving? Our own fans are beginning to have serious doubts now, but obviously we donât want it to be just a one season learning curve ... Many thanks, hereâs to a good game! Iâll be looking in daily, so any questions back just pop them on this thread ⦠daib0
Go on, i'll take a stab at these questions. A) Attack. The rest of the team is hit and miss, defence is leaky and midfield can fail to take control of a game sometimes but our attack is probably the best in the League. RVP and Rooney are immense, Hernandez and Welbeck are also very good. Each player offers something else to the attack. I also think De Gea is doing well this year. B) Don't watch the kids or reserves play much these days although ive seen enough of Will Keane to think he's going to be a good player. Ryan Tunnicliffe, Scott Wooton and Michael Keane did well in the League cup this year and many seem to think they might make it at United. C) This season it's big two for sure and whether we have enough to win it or not we'll be up there and challenging till the end like last year. Financial Fair Play should really throw a spanner in the works and prevent it becoming a duopoly though. Expect Arsenal (and us) to gain a lot from FFP and get stronger while Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle etc also get more competitive. Chelsea and City will be hit hard when they need to replace players. D) I think the PL is getting stronger as a whole. The top teams may not be at a level they have been in the past but I think the rest of the league is improving a lot. Anyone can beat anyone, we have been beaten three times already and its not even December, yet we sit top. Crazy. Can't say ive watched Reading this year but I think there's a big chance you'll be in for the drop. A lot of the teams down there with you have quite a lot of PL experience and I think that will be enough for them to keep their noses out of a relegation dogfight.
