I know a lot of us (including myself) have said we'd not be too interested in Remy for various reasons. Does your opinion change if he's available for 10mill in Jan, or should the £10mill quid going towards someone else? Is it a classic case of us spending a bit, but just not quite enough to get a player with that little bit extra?

or, on the other hand, are we so short of striking options (especially with Ade going to the Acon's), that we need to make exactly this sort of move?

I feel that Remy is too much like Defoe, but at £10 mill (if true) it's a good price for a striker and probably in line with what we can afford/are willing to spend. it's clear that a "Marquee" striker @ £25-30m isn't going to happen.

What are your thoughts on this? Who else is a realistic option for us?

    http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...pool-and-newcastle-told-marseille-star-can-le

Loic Remy's agent has put the Premier League on red alert after claiming £10million would be enough to land the Marseille striker.

Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle have all tracked the Frenchman in the past but never got past the negotiating stage regarding a fee.

But it now appears as though Marseille are ready to deal at a tempting £10m - with the Premier League trio set to make a move.

Remy, 25, has scored 27 Ligue 1 goals in 69 appearances since joining from Nice in 2010 and is said to be keen on a move to England.

And his agent Bruno Satin told Le10Sport: "Marseille needs the money and Remy going could be a solution.

"If they were to get an offer of £10m, the club would let him leave."

I like Remy, think he's a great player. My only worry is that there was a "rumour" going around that he was considering qutting the game! To me that suggests he's obivously not in the right frame of mind and to be honest the last thing we need is a player coming into the club who's not fully committed at the moment to his football.

Ability wise though, he's more than welcome. Suits our style as he's very fast and skillful with an eye for goal, plus while predominantly a striker, he can play on the right as a winger or right forward so becomes a useful option if Lennon is out/ off form too.

Any idea why he was said to be considering quitting SoS?

Fair comments SOS. The "right forward" position is something I hadn't thought of. if he genuinely does have that versatility, 10mill could be money well spent. He just wouldn't be my first choice, as we're not ones to spend much and I'd like the money going towards someone else.

But then again, other strikers are either going to be out of our wage budget, will have too higher purchase fee, or will want CL football. As a result, it probably won't leave us with too many "quality" options, especially in a Jan window. I guess beggars can't be choosers.

I honestly can't think of one realistic target who'd be a great buy and would do the job we've needed, for years. :-/

If Remy's available for £10m and providing he's in the right frame of mind, then we should bite Marseilee's hand off in my opinion. £10m is a steal for a player of his calibre. He can definitely improve the squad/ team, even if he won't be the player to get the much desired 25-30 goals a season we crave.

Like you've said, we haven't really got the £25m+ to shell out on one player so we have to put faith in AVB and his scouts to hopefully find a gem. There are always players coming through in Portugal/ France/ Croatia/ Spain that are worth having a look at.

I'm beginning to lean towards this too. 100% agree about the squad issue. he's very much of the counter attacking type which would be good for us.

it surprises me that we haven't got many spanish players. isn't Falque our only Spanish player at the moment? I'm struggling to think of who else we've had over the years!

could be missing something there, they're not bad, those spaniards! <laugh>

I suppose I should have edited it <laugh> Still it shows that even Barca have players that would not get into our team.

Then again we already knew that!

Another way to look at it is that we have 4 players who might get into theirs.

on a serious note, if we are priced out of willian, I'd like us to go for Muniain of Athletic Bilbao if possible. Could also be a bit of a challenge, but he'd fit in nicely at spurs. He doesn't stop running, gives his all, is very skillful and will win a lot of freekicks.

I was going to question some of those "spanish" names in your list, Spurf. <whistle>

Then I thought it'd be a better idea to stay on topic than resort to your level! <laugh><ok>

I can't see Muniain leaving Bilbao, or Spain for the matter. He seems well suited there and is getting plenty of game time. Bilbao would want mega money for what is probably their most prized asset now too seeing as Llorente isn't penning a new deal.

    Fantastic player though.

    Yeah true, SOS.

However, they wanted mega money for Llorente, and look how that's ended up for them?

All it takes is Muniain to hand in a transfer request, the fans will turn on him, and in we swoop! Job done!

I'll email him now and let him know of my perfect, flawless plan. <laugh><ok>

I'll help you out by acting as a Bilbao fan and write him hate and death threat letters telling him he's not needed/ not wanted at the club and the only club that'd take him would probably be Tottenham Hotspur :D

    THIS WILL SUCCEED!

Original Spurcat put in a word to get Roo and SoS on board. They will revolutionise our transfer dealings.
