There has been several hints that there will be no further large scale investment in players. Is this just a bluff? If not can HR really do much with what's already in front of him? I can't see many of the existing squad wanting to move on given the deals they are on. And if we have already shot the available investment bolt what does that say about the long term future?
Actually AAGH, I'd be more worried if they said they were going to make a rake of signings in January. We've gone down that route three times now in 3 consecutive windows and its caused us nothing but strife. Harry can bring in a couple in Jan if he wants. All he has to do is sell one or two that he doesn't want. If we're doing okay on the field, our Board will back the Manager - they've always done so in the past. Hopefully however, its done in a very prudent manner.
I think Harry probably has to sell first before he can buy. The question is, who will buy our older players considering the contracts they have with us. Our younger players would be sought after, Taarabt, Hoilett, Diakite, Faurlin etc. Are SWP, Anton, Zamora etc saleable? Long term future? Over to you Harry. Please deliver.......
Hopefully it just means moderation rather than regular overhauls. It would be nice to just get 2-3 players per window and let them settle into the existing camp rather than building a new one each window. Better for unity and better for the coffers. TF did still mention a new ground in a recent Tweet so I assume they haven't shot their load so to speak. Perhaps more a case of once bitten twice shy on the open wallet policy. If HR can show there's something to invest in then I think things may change but on the whole the noises coming out the club are alleviating a lot of my fears - the staffing changes not going any further than Rigg and the new manager believing that he's got enough of a squad to work with.
Six weeks to see what Harry can do with the present bunch. They've already been told they'll have to 'work' for their place in the team so one or two fragile egos could get their come-uppance. I'm sure we'll look at some loan deals to bolster the squad in the areas we already know we're not good enough...
A CB on loan until end of season (probably Dawson) and a goalscorer, probably loan also. That'll do me.
Black Friday huh. We don't need any more end of line bargains that you end up paying endless maintenance on. We need new and, if necessary, full price merchandise that will perform for years with only limited adjustments.
Cue Sky Sports camped outside Arry's house while he hands out more cups of tea as the transfer window slowly ticks shut.
Not worried, NW used the loan system really well in our promotion year. Walker, Routledge, Miller. Sadly if Harry does have to sell players he'll find the club to telling him the transfer fee problematic.
