You've got it made getting home early on a Friday. I get pissed off on here but I only work for 6 months of the year. I get more time off than teachers do. That and the cash are the only benefits of working on the rigs really. Only got to do 33 more days on here and I'll get 68 days at home. Can't wait for the platform shutdown. Five and a half weeks off with two of them paid at offshore rate and the rest at my onshore rate.
I don't even get the most time off on here as well. 90% of the guys on here only work a third of the year. They work 4 weeks out of every 12 and still get holidays too. I'm not allowed to take holidays if I'm meant to be on the platform due to the gay contract my boss signed with the offshore company. The mechies on here get ÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââ¬Â âââ‰â¢ÃÆÃâÃââÃÆââââ¬à ¡ÃâìÃÆââ¬Â¦ÃâáÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¡ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã54K and only working 16-18 weeks a year for that. I was offered that job but I get paid more than that and I've got the easiest job on the platform. **** knows how much of a waster I'd be if I had 30 weeks a year off.
