And Massa is back to his old self, don't think Alonso will have easy number 1 status next year. Massa at this rate could challenge for the WDC....insane I know, but for 3-4 races now Massa was at times clearly faster than Alonso and today it looked like he was just jogging until Alonso caught up with him who was on a sprint in this kind of weather where talent shines over car... 2013 could be another great year, Massa might even win the WDC if he keeps this level up!
Apparently Adrian Chiles is replacing Jake Humphrey. Johnny Herbert's in too, presumably for EJ. Edit: This appears to be bullshit.
After F1 break: Seb: 7/9 podiums + wins (2nd, 22nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 6th) Alonso: 7/9 podiums (RET, 3rd, 3rd, RET, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd) These guys don't want to make it easy for anybody do they? These guys always go up another level at the final part of the season even when things get tense.
Really?! Not sure about Chiles but Johnny's really impressed me on the Sky shows. I didn't realise EJ was leaving too.
Think I would be in tears if Massa won the WDC next year. From WDC for 8 seconds, to life risking injuries, to self doubt of ones ability, being crushed by Alonso, being almost left out of an F1 drive by Ferrari. And after all that..... to beat probably some of the greatest drivers of ALL! time and win the WDC he got so close to 4 years ago... Now that! would be film worthy!
Whitmarsh's wise words: Finally, congratulations to Sebastian and commiserations to Fernando [Alonso]. Either of them would have been a worthy world champion. But, after a grand prix as thrilling and as suspenseful as the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix, it’s fair to say that the ultimate winner today was Formula One.”
But Niki Lauda has got the film "Rush" he has got his limelight, LEAVE MASSA ALONE, LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!!!! *sobs*
Bit late but what an unbelievable end to an absolutely remarkable season, full of great racing, a string of different winners in a row (including new winners), controversies and incredible moments. Vettel really drove his socks off to clinch the championship. As much as people want to constantly slam the man and say he wouldn't get anywhere without the brilliance of Adrian Newey he made everything happen for himself today and it will always be a combination of car and driver that secures victory, or in Vettel's case 6th place to secure the WDC. Also a superb season and race once again by Fernando Alonso, at times outperforming the car but always extremely consistent, fighting for every last place he could muster up to. He would've also been a deserved champion had he managed to pull it off, but the fact that he has come that close once again to the WDC in the past 3 seasons is a testament to his ability and character. Next season looks set to be another amazing one, and I'm looking forward to seeing if NBC can provide the same amazing coverage Speed has always brought over their 17 years of coverage. I'm also looking forward to continually debating and sharing with all of you guys on here. Having people I can relate to about F1, even if you are all from other countries, has been really great. Bring on the next season already!
Seriously, I'm really chuffed Massa's made it back, didn't look like he would. He's my joint DOTD in fact.
