I think your living in the 1990's still. I wouldn't sell him for 9 million, he's still pretty young and goalkeepers play for a long time. I wouldn't sell for anything less than £17 million. Think of the money for Henderson, Young, Downing, Carroll and none of those are anywhere near as good for the positions they play as Ruddy.
Goalkeepers have always cost less. Also, too many players are overpriced. Looking abroad or down at the champ 9m buys you a lot of player. 17 would be better obviously, but 9 or 10 would be fair I think.
if craig gordon went for£9 million then Ruddy is worth a wee bit more! But an offer that size from any club would have to be accepted.
Well I'm not prepared to let other teams sell there players overlypriced and not do it ourselves. I don't care if 9 million is fair, I want what everyone else gets.
Agree with Carrabuh on this. £9m is not enough for an English international goalkeeper that has still got the best years ahead of him. He also signed a new 4 year contract with an option for a 5th year in the Summer, so his contract will probably be worth around £5m alone. £15m minimum.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? The Premier League war chest of TV £££ will double as of next season, meaning at least £80m for the lowest team, and you want to sell Ruddy for a measly £10-20m? And risk our very survival this season? Sheer lunacy! If this was a business decision, you would all be fired for poor judgement: he will be worth more at the end of the season, its not like he will fall in value! JR is one of the most important players at our club, if not the most...time and time again he has kept us in the game where under other circumstances we would have dropped points. Any other position apart from the GK, fine selling for profit would be a sensible idea, but finding a keeper of Ruddy's class who would want to stay with us is very rare!
Think about it longsight, have a good look back over the weeks, months and years at what people say about English and british players.. That may answer your question!
I think it goes up by £20 m which with increased salary costs etc etc amounts to not a great deal ruddy for £10 m great business and not too much wrong with me, well there might be
Are you being serious? If you are, you might want to look at how much English talent goes for. Southampton paid £7m for a Jay Rodriguez!
So what's the answer and how does it apply to a gk? I genuinely don't know why it would make a difference
That's a load of extra money! Especially compared to what 5 mil in the championship He's not going for less than 15 mil, they can afford it
Longsight... £35mil Andy Carroll £20mil Jordan Henderson £13mil Oxlade-Chamberlain at 17years old £7mil Championship striker Jay Rodriguez £8mil League 1 striker Jordan Rhodes £9mil SPL keeper Craig Gordan Go back what 10 years, Arsenal paid £6mil then for Richard Wright ???? For one of the best, most inform keepers in Europe at this present time... Your saying £9mil is acceptable? With prices how they are for British talent i certainly don't. You also say only for a keeper, how long have certain clubs been looking for top goalkeeper who is consistent ie Arsenal!
