    European Average Attendance League

I was watching the Man Utd game tonight and it got me thinking of attendances for some reason and how English clubs and us in particular compared to everyone in the rest of the europe this season. The results I found made me proud to be a regular attender at St. James' and this is why:

    Average Attendances (for Europe Overall)

    1. FC Barcelona 76176
    2. Manchester United 75072
    3. Real Madrid CF 71529
    4. Arsenal FC 60025
    5. Olympique Marseille 53012
    6. Inter Milan 52412
    7. AC Milan 54057
    8. Glasgow Celtic 47874
    9. Ajax 47,801
    10. NEWCASTLE UNITED 47505

DISCLAIMER(Disregarding Germany as their league structure is lightyears ahead of any other league in the world and due to this amazing structure isn't fair to include them, simply because it is unique to the rest of Europe. Only 7 of the 18 Bundesliga clubs get below 40k on average each week and only 2 of them are below 25k on average!) Staggering, the rest of europe needs to follow suit and football will become an even better place.

Note: If Germany was included Newcastle would drop to 15th overall, still brilliant!!

Why not disregard Barca as well since their attendances are higher than everyone else?

Still shows that it isn't unreasonable to expect our club to be in Europe. If the club was properly managed the potential is there for it to regularly qualify for the Champions League. It's a pretty sad state when the club with the third highest attendances are pleased (as I'm sure we all are) with a 10th placed finish.

Everything is there at Newcastle, we are just waiting for someone to come along with the right vision and then we could take off. Stadium, fans, infrastructure, it's all there.

Bit of a shame though. Looking at it we could (and probably should) be 8th on that list

Yeah our percentage of seats taken is a bit disappointing, only ~90%, we're 11th in the Premiership in that respect. Obviously this stat is easier to do well in if you have a small stadium though.

The german league structure means thats fans can watch games for as little as £8. The rest of europe is the same as each other. We really need to follow suit as £8 per game clearly increases attendances.

i think that this is for us in the Championship isn't it ?

I would expect our attendances this season to be a bit better

Seems about right for this season unfortuantly, would be hoping it would have been a bit closer to 50k.
