    Weve been linked with

    a 29yo Dawson
    30yo Defoe
    31yo Crouch
    32yo Parker
    37yo Beckham

    Will we ever learn?

Dawson and Parker would add much-needed steel to the side, the alternative is risk untried younger players. Time is not on our side. Bear in mind much of the gossip is idle speculation...

Dawson and Parker would be short term and very good signings. Parker is the 400 million times better version than Shaun Derry.

Hopefully more like agents using it to get their clients in the window. Younger doesnt mean untried, a 23yo can have 5 years top flight experience and keep in mind we already have 2 wasters in SWP and Barton on our books, we dont want 4 or 5 more only coming here for the money.

I agree Flyer, but January is the 'panic window' when prices are inflated and the best young players are unlikely to be available. In an ideal world we would bring in a good mix of youth and experience which makes MH's summer deals seem even more bizarre...

You can also get some bargains if the players contract is running out.

I wouldnt mind someone like Parker if we needed the experience but we dont, we need hungry players. Not players who dont give a crap.

I suspect Harry's a good judge of character and will be looking for talented but also conscientious players who will come and give their all for the cause. Scott Parker would be just such a player - honest and hard working.

But wont come here cheap, neither would Crouch a year after they paid over £10m for him.

Why on earth would Parker come here except for a pay rise?

We should have bought Gary Hooper a year ago. He REALLY is a classy player and under 25. Would have cost a bit but better finisher and superior workrate than Cisse or Zamora.

We should have bought Gary Hooper when he was at Scunthorpe, would've been a snip...

I personally don't rate Parker at all, hard working, but very little end result. Would rather have Lennon or Huddlestone. Also I think Gallas would be a good addition instead of Dawson who is too injury prone.

I doubt Spurs would let any of the above go though.

Exactly, imagine him and Rhodes. We could have got them both quite cheap.

IT would have cost a bit more in a fee but the wages would have been cheaper so hed have been cheaper than Cisse or Zamora over the contract term.

I guess (1) if he's out of favour at Spurs and not getting first team play and (2) the allure of working with Harry.

    I agree it's unlikely

On Sunday Supplement this morning, one of them was saying that we just can't afford to go down THIS season, with the money on offer for next season and the way it will effect everything, including parachute payments for teams getting relegated the following season, which will be huge. He said we should do absolutely anything to stay up. I agree.....buy pensioners for all I care. WE MUST STAY UP!! Worry about the future after the end of this season. WE MUST STAY UP!!

Parker hasn't kicked a ball for months and won't be fit.
Dawson is essential imo, along with Defoe or Adebayor.

Parker has not kicked a ball for spurs this year, so he's not much of an option, Dawson & Defoe would add much to this squad.

At what point was Rhodes available cheaply?

What did they pay for him? £8m, we paid £4m for Zamora whos on twice the wages Rhodes is on so Rhodes would have been cheaper (or at least near the cost) than Zamora.

Bartons was "free" and cost us £15m.

Yeah agree. Amazing that we're being linked to the type of players who got us into this mess in the first place!
