Of course we can , but we have been shortchanged in the not too distant past. Look at the Norwich game . Now THAT was a pathetic performance. Todays was not nearly as bad.
Some truth in that. We didnt play our best and got a point , away from home . Lets put that behind us and look forward .
Gervinho never has , and never will rise to any occasion . He is dead wood. . No more no less. I would LOVE to see him replaced in January with a striker of some sort .
I think his goal against Chelsea gave us a bit of hope but since then he's looked worse than sunday league
All I can say about Gervinho is that, I did not miss him one bit when he was injured. Make of that what you will.
Just got back home from the game, boy was that disappointing, the only thing we've been consistent at this season is being inconsistent. If we don't start picking up some form soon, then we can kiss top 4 goodbye, we haven't had back 2 back wins since start of September, and we're now approaching December, and that's just not good enough. Last season at least, we made an excellent run from October to the New year. Wenger's substitution in the end of the match didn't go down well at all with many of the fans as well, subbing of Giroud for a defensive midfielder against a struggling side like Villa? That was well and truly pathetic.
Not really. The competition for fourth is hardly stiff. Spurs - Three straight defeats in the league. Everton - Inconsistent as us and draw too many games. West Brom - Flying at the moment but everything is going for them, seriously can't see them keeping this up for the whole season.
Erm that's the point, even if they start dropping, we're dropping along with them, it's not like we're constantly picking points up week in week out, we have no form, we can't even string 2 wins together, so I'd stop worrying about other teams and how they'll eventually end up, and start worrying about our own team picking up some form, because no matter happens with other teams, if we don't pick our form up, top 4 becomes much more harder.
Oh and there is Chelsea who have again changed managers and we are yet to see how that will go down. RDM was well liked by the Chelsea. We are only four points behind them.
You said 'we can kiss top 4 goodbye'. And I disagreed with that because Like I said we are not competing with team who can are capable of running away from us. This might go down to the wire, but I certainly do not see any of the teams around us who can completely push out of reach from a top four spot, there are a load of mediocre teams in and around that top four spot.
Once again, stop looking at problems others may or may not have, and only worry about how our club is doing, eh, is that so hard? All this talk about oh that club will fall, or that club will struggle bla bla bla is meaningless if our club doesn't pick up form, and is double meaningless because it doesn't still change the fact THAT WE'RE CURRENTLY STRUGGLING and have been for a long time to pick up a decent form, so forget about other clubs that MAY struggle, and concentrate on the club you support, that IS STRUGGLING, ****ing eh man, anything and any argument always to get away from the fact that we're just not playing good enough on a regular consistent basis.
Yes, we can kiss top 4 goodbye based on this form, I didn't say it's IMPOSSIBLE, on this form I don't think we will get it, BUT, if we PICK UP FORM, which is what I ALSO SAID, then we can get it, not rocket science.
Look there's no point in arguing, I think WE BOTH agree we need to start picking up form if we want our top 4 spot guaranteed.
It does mean something and it's important. We need teams around us to fail as well as us going on a run, and if Chelsea implode under Rafa then they will be drawn back into the battle with the teams below them and opens up another spot in the top four. I already talked about our problems after the game and said plenty, so you can't say I try and get away from talking about the struggles of my club, so aiming that comment at me, is rather pointless.
But my point is that even if they implode, it means nothing if we're not there to pick the pieces up. if we can't start putting back to back wins together, then we're not going to be taking advantage of any slip ups. We MUST win our next 3 league games now, nothing less, they are ALL MUST WIN GAMES, Everton away, and then 2 home games including one against West Brom, anything below 9 points ain't good enough, we've dropped enough stupid points. Dropping 2 points today takes away every insurance excuse for dropping points at Everton.
To be honest they hit the bar, so we were not that far away from a defeat. But what worries me most is the fact that we had ONE shot on target. Our worst for nearly two years. Last time we had one shot on target we managed to score two goals.
