Sunderland and West Brom are locked in a battle to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Simon Vukcevic. Montenegrin Vukcevic, 25, is rated one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe and has also been attracting interest from clubs in Italy and Spain. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is desperate to strengthen his squad during the summer after seeing a number of his first-team players being struck down by injuries this season. The loss of Darren Bent in the January transfer window left his forward line bare and the possible addition of Vukcevic would increase Bruce's options going forward. West Brom manager Roy Hodgson is also keen to bring in his own new faces during the summer and ensure his club do not face another relegation struggle next season. Reports in Portugal suggest that Vukcevic has asked for a move at the end of the season as he wants to play in a much stronger league. AND West Ham relegation will spark Ba wars Published 23:00 04/05/11 By Darren Lewis (1)Recommend (1) The West Ham fire-sale is set to kick off with Aston Villa, Blackburn and Sunderland hunting striker Demba Ba. They have all approached relegation-haunted Hammers about the 25-year-old marksman. The futures of Ba, Robbie Keane, Scott Parker, Matthew Upson, Carlton Cole and Robert Green will all be in doubt should the east London club go down at the end of the season. West Ham play Blackburn this weekend in a match they have to win to have any chance of saving themselves. They have already begun to cut costs, however, and last week joint-chairman David Gold admitted the club are scouting potential replacements for their top stars in the event of them falling through the trap door.
Our defense is bad enough without bringing in Upson Tomkins is certainly a player I would take though
Noble too, then we will have a monopoly. PS: he was very impressive @WHU against us last season: Clattermalling = OWNED!
he looks canny on the youtube clip does that lad from Sporting as for Demba Ba would be a class signing if wasn't for his dodgey knee he would be in a top 6 side
Demba Ba would be nice, but I'd like to aim higher. Vukcevic is being released on a free at the end of the season according to a reliable source, along with several other high-profile Sporting CP players. Both would be handy additions though, don't get me wrong.
Wouldn want tomkins and noble, both flatter too decieve IMO Demba Ba would be great but he and Gyan would go off too the African cup of nations so we would be strikerless in january and i would love to take Parker but i think Spurs will get him when you see Jamie Redknapp sitting with him in the crowd at the Clesea v Tottenham game.
Definately not upson Things are tight when your Owner stops to go to away games lol I like West Ham just hope they go down for Gold and Sullivas sake (tossers)
Noble is a class player, he never gets the credit he deserves, his passing is excellent, tackling is very good, as is his ball retention. Upson can **** off, Parker will go to Spurs, but Ba would be a good option, definitely. I've seen Sporting a few times this season, as i often have work in Lisbon, Vuckievic is good, but there are better players in that side, the best player for me, although he don't always show it, is the Chilean Mati Fernandez, if he applied himself right he could be one of the best in the world, he's (potentially) that good. We missed the boat on Veloso, he would have been a wonderful signing for us, but despite his pleas for English clubs, no bids went in and he went to Genoa.
They could sign me . I am 65 had a stroke and so can now only do a fast walk so the other side might ignore me and I could amble in and nick a few goals. Don't get too serious it is after all only a game not life and death.
