As Holt is from Carlisle and Clattenburg is a Geordie they can have their own private conversation that no one else can understand.
The whole thing started because he red carded Torres for diving. That actually makes Clattenburg a hero in my book, but I hope Adam stays on his feet next Wednesday.
Well you're a tool. Clattenburg had a shocking game, and aside from the whole fiasco should have had time off for how bad he really was! Clattenburg is one of the worst referees about, he loves media attention and intentionally winds players up, then yellow cards them for answering back, ie gives it but can't take it back. As previously mentioned, he drives a bright yellow sports car with a number plate of 'CL4TTS'. He is one of the few referees i can not stand, along with Andy D'urso.
Contrary to popular idiotic opinion, refs don't do that sort of stuff. If you could see it, then the FA would be able to see it as well, and he wouldn't have a job. Refs try their best to be fair, and they have good and bad days because they're human.
He had a terrible game, some of his decisions were disgraceful. I hope he's got his head screwed on right for Tuesday, becaue its a big game, & rightly bigger than the ref's performance. (on a side note, imagine if the decisions he gave were against Utd instead of Chelsea, we'd have never heard the end of it, Fergie would till be ranting now)
It is well documented that he is one of the chattier refs and likes the banter on the pitch. And that he has a high cards to game ratio, and gives many cards for dissent. So long as he follows the rules of the game, and usually gets decisions correct then the FA should have no problem with him. I just generally don't like the way he goes about his games. And in the past way he has acted during them, having made hugely controversial decisions. He once sent Bellamy off for diving, like Torres he was fouled, both were second yellows, then in the game said something 'How do you put up with him' after sending him off.
I can't stand this idiot and am not happy he will ref the Norwich game, against Fulham he was very poor letting Damien duff dive and roll around the place, and as said above he is a very poor ref IMO. His decision making in the Chelsea. V Man U game was laughable,I accept that everyone has a bad game but the last few times I have watched a game where he has been the ref he has been terrible ....
He likes to be the centre of attention Fran,it should be about the game not the ref... But yes I would be happy with any penalties for us, but refs don't like giving them for us
Just terrible enough to incorrectly caution a player (who had been correctly cautioned earlier in the match). He's still one of the top Premier League refs, and a few years younger than some of the other big guns.
He is a good ref, but while I was in America refereeing in the biggest youth football (or soccer as they call it over there ) tournament in the world, I was talking to an assessor who knew Clattenburg from his pre-Premier League days. He said that he was a complete tosser. His attitude when he was younger was dreadful. He may have changed since then, I don't know, but it seems to me that he creates trouble for himself because of his attitude.
I seem to remember a game at St Marys at around this time last year when a PL referee called Peter Walton gave us a couple of dodgy penalties...
Ex-PL now - he has gone to the land of Soccer to teach them all how to referee, or something. USA Cup by any chance? I was thinking of doing that last year but I never really found the time/money/motivation, quite a lot of people from around Hampshire go. I can entirely believe that about Clattenburg, I've definitely met excellent refs that I would never get on with, maybe the moral of the story is that they are mostly just normal blokes too. I reckon that he probably doesn't enjoy the media attention at all though.
Yep. Have been for the last 3 years. Can't afford it next year though. Definitely worth going to though - great experience.
