Just putting the question out there

Just wondering what sort of system did he play at spurs and what do you think his preferred formation will be for us?

I'm thinking he'll go 4-2-3-1 for now, hopefully he'll drop Ferdinand and Traore but reckon he'll stick with the latter. For the wide players I'd suggest Hoilett would be one and Park the other (when fit) until January. Two holding midfielders and one in behind the front man, only issue is that I can't see Harry trusting Taarabt with a wide position because of the discipline needed (hence Park) so he could only go in the "hole". If that's the case I can see it being difficult for Faurlin to get into the team, Granero is better and he'll have one of Mbia or Diakite as the out and out holding player.

Cisse upfront because we've got nobody else. However, come January I'd expect to see Dawson, a wide player and striker coming in.

Of course he does play 4-4-2 quite often so who knows, I just think the players we have 4-2-3-1 is the best option. What I do know is that I feel a hell of a lot better about our chances than I did 24 hours ago. I was gutted when Harry was overlooked for the England job, I'm now thankful that the Sweet FA are so incompetent...

In saying all that, this is QPR, it wouldn't surprise me if the deal falls through at the last minute and we're stuck with Avram Grant!!!

I picked 5 random games from last season and they were all 4411/4231. Im hoping its more the latter rather than a rigid 4411 like Hughes had.

im not sure what harry will go for, wouldn't be surprised to see mbia in midfield though. the forward line picks itself at the mo.

    IMO, Harry likes a 1-4-1-2-2-1

In his last season at Spurs he played different variations of a 4-5-1. Before that he often choose to go two up front in a 4-4-2. But when he was spoilt for choice last year in his midfield department with the likes of Modric, Van Der Vaart, Parker, Sandro, Huddlestone, Kranjcar, Lennon, Bale etc. the five man midfield was his most used lineup.
And with our plethora of midfielders and lack of forwards I believe this will be his approach with us as well, at least for the time being.

We could see a 4-2-3-1 with a midfield consisting of:

    --------------Taarabt----------------
    Hoilett-----------------------Park/SWP
    -----Faurlin/Diakite--Granero----------

Or he might opt for a 4-3-2-1???

    Hoilett/Taarabt--------------Park/SWP
    ------Faurlin---Diakite---Granero------

Bob, don't you think he'll be forced to play Mbia in defence in the lack of better options? I would'n be surprised myself to see Mbia in midfield, as that is his best position, but maybe not before January?

I think Harry might start with this line-up...

    ---------------Cesar---------------

    Bosingwa--M'Bia--Nelsen--Fabio

    ----------Diakite--Faurlin---------

    ----Hoilett--Granero--Taarabt---

    ---------------Cisse---------------

I was going with Onuoha there as well but I think Harry will use Bosingwa, for the first game at least...

Which is pretty much what a lot of us have been calling for all season.

I'd be laughing if he played 442. Actually no I wouldn't.

That is certainly the formation that suits the players we have imo. However, I'd play Fabio at right back and keep Traore at left back.
As for Harry? We may well see 4-2-3-1 but he may also play the dreaded 4-4-2 at home, as we need to get goals and win. Having said that, unless he plays Mackie as the 2nd forward with Cisse, it will be 4-4-1-1 with Taarabt or Hoilett behind. That's the same as Hughes, but Harry may get them performing.
He'll also ensure that we have at least one dedicated holding player whatever system he plays....Hughes didn't always do that!

& he won't put our best midfielder granero on the right wing. Even when MH got the right 11 on the pitch he still managed to f*** up the formation.
Hope he can also get faurlin's confidence back which had clearly been shot by Hughes inexplicable decision to ignore him for 6/7 games

I wouldn't be surprised if Harry tries Faurlin in a more advanced role, he was linked to Ale as a possible replacement for Modric at Spurs before Ale got injured, so he may see him as a playmaker although Granero would be a natural in that role...

I'm confused. Isn't this pretty much the line-up and formation that failed so spectacularly against Saints?

How can you not find a spot for Mackie after what we have seen? If nothing else use him as the lone striker with Cisse so out of sorts.

I like the idea of inserting Traore as an out an out winger as Merthyr suggested.

I wouldn't let Bosingwa anywhere near the squad without a signed affidavit that he will put in at least some kind of effort and remember to screw his brain in before taking to the pitch.

He played Granero on the right against Saints mate! A monumentally stupid decision!

Exactly! But I don't think Hughes ever played this formation with close to these players.
