IMO the three seconds that cost Mark Hughes his job (and possible terminated his career as a football manager at least for a good while) were the three or so seconds when the normally reliable Mercurial Morrocan had the ball slid to him by Cisse in the dying minutes of the Reading home game that ultimately ended in a 1 all draw. A win then would have fired the team up perhaps for a draw at Stoke and hopefully a win against The Saints at home.

Some will argue we are better off now. That remains to be seen. Normally there is a new manager effect. If that results in a draw at Man U or, almost impossibly, a win then even the darkest doubter will shift towards the light a little.

I believe there are two things that need to change for Harry and of course QPR to succeed in the hard task ahead of them.

Firstly Harry has to build a team. Not easy at the best of times but with the rumours about dissent between factions in the team that in itself will be challenging enough.

Secondly, he needs a bit of luck! He needs, were that three seconds to be repeated in a future game, for Adel (or whoever) to slot the ball away with confidence.

Which brings me to my final point. The players, for whose failure Mark Hughes has paid with his job, must now realise that they too are out of excuses. Just has MH ran out of time and excuses, so have they. Their only option now is to step up to the mark (ironic pun!) and play with the passion of Mackie, Taarabt and Nelsen with all the skill they can muster. They owe that to us, the fans, the Board, their new manager and, arguably most importantly, their own pride as professionals.

Interesting times ahead. I am not overwhelmed with joy yet. I'm afraid the only thing that will do that for me is PL safety.

    Nevertheless, COYRSssssssssssss!

I believe that would have just papered over the cracks, the squad didnt like him and hes not a nice bloke and that resulted in the players not playing at all. Redknapp will get them pulling together as hes a great man manager. Hughes just played with prozone all day and didnt even want to see his players.

I'll bet that by the end of January we will have at least two permanent new signings and two loan signings and the team will be playing the type of football we'd expect from one of Harry's teams. Don't be surprised if Barton returns, Harry is too shrewd to leave anything to chance...

It was said by those who know about these things that Warnock would not have been able to attract the quality additions to our squad that Hughes by his very presence managed to bring in and that was one of the reasons cited for dumping NW last year.

I can't see how that ties in with the assertion now that the players hated Hughes and that was one of the reasons for the poor performances we have witnessed.

Yeah i thought about this for a bit, in between beers. I'm not sure whether it was MH influence or that of Phil Beard. Remember Man city went after Kakka.

I am .................. As mentioned in another thread, it takes a certain type of manager to tackle our current situation. One with a bit of flair / charisma etc .............. and reckon if anyone can bring our team together, Harry can. It will be one heck of a ride ( notice I said, ride ....... not slide ) and although instance results may not happen straight away, I trust it will happen.

First and foremost, Harry has to get the team working together before we can expect the results we are after.

Back to the OP. 3 seconds............. If Mackie had buried that ball v Swansea at 0-1 this thread would not exist.

Agree Nines. There were just too many nearly moments. Hughes and QPR have been unlucky so far. Harry needs to change that because improving teams also change their 'luck'. Funny, that.

Fair comment mate. I would say that, had we been in mid-table safety when that chance fell to Taarabt, he would have tucked it away without a second thought. Huge pressure on him as he ran in to goal. Even the top players react badly to that kind of pressure at times.
