He's got three managers sacked. We play three trequartistas to supply him, even though it costs us goals at the back and he does not shoot. We've signed three reserve wingers to supply him too; Marin Moses KDB. Now we've got a fourth manager in to get the best out of this big baby. He'd better deliver.
Unless you sign Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard and a time machine to take you back to 2009 you wont see the best out of him. He's finished. Anyone who struggles for form with Hazard and Mata supplying him is a sign of a finished striker.
yeah.. I don't believe this Gerrard / Alonso talk.. We better 'go back to the future' - that's the only way out - Call the DOC!!
Alonso and Gerrard were key to Torres' form. Combine that and the multiple hamstring injuries he suffered it just seems like he has lost his pace and flair that he used to have.
Like most CFC fans, I've been more than patient with Torres. Still think with the right midfield he would do the job, but............. time to go. Big mistake buying him when past his best, bigger mistake if we continue to see him as central to our team. He is just the wrong fit for our team unless Rafa really holds the key, which I don't believe for a second.
I think Torres is a top quality striker. He hasn't been finding the net enough for you lot and he hasn't showed the form that had him rated as one of the best in the world, but he hasn't been as catastrophic as some make out. He has definately lost some pace with all the injuries he has suffered but he still has a decent burst of pace and his overall game hasn't been poor. I think the price tag and expectation didn't do him any good. He was already low on confidence and i think when he didn't immediately click with the team you could see he was playing with worries on his mind. I do think he has improved and at times he has been criticised unfairly. To justify the money, the changes in personel and style etc i think it's fair to want him to be playing at his best. At the moment he doesn't warrant being the sole striker at a top 4 club, but if he does hit form again, with the players you have around him he'll get tons of goals. Who knows, maybe Rafa knows something everyone else has missed?
We paid way over the top for out of form, injury-prone striker - I lost patience with Torres ages ago. This brings me back to the 80's when Barnes was selected for England on some faint promise that he would deliver; perhaps Rafa has the solution to Nando's problem but I won't be holding my breath. Rafa's immediate problem will be to shore up our rearguard which is the priority at the moment until January and the arrival of the relief column.
