    QPR fan in peace.

By best mate is a toffee and I've watched and rooted for them for years.

This season has seen such a change in your play that it's been astounding.

You've been playing 15 mins of real quality for a long time and then resorting back to graft (no problem with that - the Graveson Carsley days were good to watch in their own right) but this season has been relentlessly entertaining.

Admittedly, Jelavic, Fellaine, Mirallas and others are great players but the whole team seems to have a different mindset.

Any secrets to give a desperate Hoops supporter?

    Matt

PS Hope you get top 4.

ooohhh,a thread not started by me <laugh>

Yeah Despite Gerrard's knowledgable contribution regarding our quality of play, we play really good football for the most part but as you say, that has always been there to an extent.

Moyes unlike many other managers changes style to suit to the players rather than trying to force a certain style on players that just aren't good enough to play like that. Take the season we got 4th for example, off the top of my head we must have been starting with players like Bent, Cahill, Kilbane, Gravesen, Carsley, Weir, Stubbs amongst others. As you can imagine, you're not going to get a lot of flair out of them players, so we built on a solid defence and played some ugly but effective football, that combined with the spirit of the club is why we done so well.

The reason that style has change is that despite limited funding, we've managed to bit by bit improve personnel in the team whether it be through sales ( Rooney, Lescott, Rodwell) or by finding players with potential for cheap prices, credit to Moyes ( and the scouting team ) for that.

So now we have technical players such as Fellaini ( an exception to the rule given the way other transfers went in terms of cost ) and Osman who was always very good on the ball and is allowed to show it more now as well as Mirallas and Baines & Pienaar's telepathic partnership. Probably started the transition when we signed Arteta really and it's starting to come good now.

Of course the added bonus to this is that we have a striker who scores in Jelavic (slightly out of form at the moment) so it always looks better when you're playing good football and scoring. We press really well too which is why we usually have more possession than our opponents whilst creating on average 20 shots per game. I'll admit we do play long balls but we play good, quick passing football a lot more.

we would be even higher if there were competent referee's in the league but that's just part of the game.

Advice for QPR? polar opposite of Everton really, you already have top class players (well certainly not relegation players anyway), you just need a competent manager. Good luck anyway mate, Granero is class.

"we would be even higher if there were competent referee's in the league but that's just part of the game."

You'd certainly have one point less if there'd have been a competent linesman in the derby who didn't brick himself when the Gladwys St mob turned their fire on him.

If there was a competent referee then Suarez wouldn't have been on the pitch. View attachment 19085

    Boooooom Headshot.

We'd have had 2 more if the lino at the same end hadn't made 2 howlers & disallowed 2 perfectly good goals vs Newcastle & we'd have had 3 more if Atkinson had rightly awarded the brace of penalties in the first half last week.etc etc

However, unlike our neighbours we take it on the chin & move on. They'll no doubt have an alternative league table where they'll sit in the top 4, if the refs had called everything 'right', hitting the woodwork counted as a goal & United were docked 10 points for being United.

"Take it on the chin" - my arse! Every time a decision goes against Liverpool in the derby you drag up Clive Thomas, Clattenburg and Graham Poll. Nothing about Pienaar's attempted leg-break on Mascherano, Kyro being sent off for being stamped on by Fellatio, Jelavic's offside goal in the semi...... I could go on, but your attitude to me is summed up by Cahill after the said semi when he muttered about decisions going against you - what ****ing decisions?!!

"Take it on the chin"..... "Carry it on the shoulder" more like it. :emoticon-0112-wonde

I was referring to decisions in general, not solely the derby.

But seeing as you've brought it up, is there any wonder we moan about derby decisions through the ages?

We've been on the wrong end of so many they blur into one another. You lot would have to have a good goal disallowed in the next god knows how many derbies, to even get close to evening the score.

Thanks for the thorough and very good reply Shogun.

I will add that a consistent supply of talent brought through or purchased cheaply has at least helped keep you somewhere near competitive on finances.

Oh and my other half saw Barclay play against Ipswich the other week and she reckons he is excellent.

Note we're working on that manager thing now! :)

I'll leave you lads to argue now..... ;)

Er, actually i admire you, and moyes and have said so. Think there's a good chance you'll get fourth, and you'll deserve it. Just pointed out that it's dogshit that you're badly done to by refs, or ever have been, overall. We've had more attrocious decisions against us this year, especially Suarez with penalties and THAT offside decision, but we are where we deserve to be.
