Good Lord, a winner! No good with the extra R/F though, that was wishful thinking. :emoticon-0100-smile

What horrible news to log into about Go Native. What an absolute tragedy for connections who spent so long getting him back to fitness - and he appeared close to his best. Such a terrible shame. RIP

The 3.30 at Haydock for me personally could surprise people in being a battle of the two lowest rated horses on paper.

I think SHUIL ROYALE is majorly overpriced if improving for chasing as perhaps expected, particularly on breeding. A nice scopey horse who has looked more powerful than niumble over hurdles, something you can sometimes need going chasing. Ability is much better than a 115 official rating and is a really interesting runner having run his best races when teaming up with Daryl Jacob.

Theatrical Star for the Tizzards can follow him home.

Minella Class lost its way a little over fences and it is hard to see a convinving performance on the cards agaist some unexposed chasers.

RIP Go Native! Such terrible news.

Makes you wonder if there was undetected damage after the fall.

Very sad news about Go Native. Connections didn't deserve that after the patience they've shown.

But at Haydock, life goes on. The 3.05 is a trappy looking race. I wasn't intending to have a bet of any sort today, but Gevrey Chambertin is on my ATR tracker list, so I've had to take a look. David Pipe's due a bit of luck with greys, and this one should appreciate both the extra half mile and the ground. Furthermore, I think he would have won more emphatically than he did at Aintree had they not ommitted all 3 hurdles in the straight due to low sun.

Dangers abound, though. I'm not sure how much of a threat Wilton Milan is following his win at Worcester, but he ran green that day, and can be expected to improve a fair bit for that run. Both Fourjacks and the unpenalised Corrin Wood both look like future chasers but that needn't stop them winning a few over hurdles between them. I'm not sure any of these can be discounted, so I'll back the Pipe Horse on the grounds that it's clearly hoped he's very good. I think he may have to be to win this.

Over at Ascot, no time for a write up now, and I don't really have anything original to say anyway, but I can't let Restless Harry jump off unencumbered by a little of my cash. Apologies to anyone else who's backed him.

ATR report that Go Native was subject to a freak accident while exercising this morning.

Lousy news at any time, but after a lengthy injury that he had just recovered from, a desperately sad event :(

    RIP Go Native
