If you've not set off already, get off the M62 JCT 17 PRESTWICH , turn left at roundabout, keep on that road , all the way past Strangeways Prison (About 2.5miles), you will see the M E N Arena on your left, Use car park on your left before the traffic lights (It used to be Boddingtons Brewery).
It's not raining. (well, in Salford were i am)
    Have a great day.

Slightly copped out and am now at Trafford Centre! Free parking innit...

Still gotta negotiate my way to the venue later, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

You will not be stuck for places to have your Lunch.

Try the Yang Sing ,in the "Orient". Or YO Sushi in Selfridges.

    Enjoy

Damn - it's really such a major pity you've done that as I was all ready to take up Andy's suggestion of allowing you to park at mine and taxi you to the city centre! Ah well, these things happen - guess I'll just have to get drunk tonight instead.

Told you, personally I think it's the best shopping centre in the UK.

Made it there, made it back, accomplished all that was intended and ready for City today.

    Ouuush!

Once got to the Academy (which I was certain I'd been to before, but had actually confused it with the Apollo, doh) we went to a couple of pubs on Oxford Road/Street.

A smallish Wetherspoons type pub called The Oxford, and then a strange kind of converted church one called something like Jabez Clegg's Beerhall. It had a huge fibreglass pig in it for some reason. Good pub, different.

Gig was good, journey went without a hitch.

    Thumbs up.

That area is essentially a kind of drive-thru University campus isn't it.

Bustling student land, like a little town of its own.

I'm not keen on driving around massive cities that are unknown to me with an antique sat nav, but all went well.

Jabez Clegg! Used to love that place. It was the main reason why I attended less than half my lectures at uni, but not been in it for well over a decade now.

Now The Academy brings back memories of Club Tropicana, the tacky 80s night on Tuesdays. Vaguely recall Bjorn Again turning up one night there too.
