Heartbreaking that they can't let a dying lady finally see justice for her son before she dies, the original inquests were piled together as one and each case turned out to be different, so this twat of a government in their lack of wisdom once more pile the 96 deaths together.

The families, the supporters, the general public, the labour party etc see no reason they can't make an exception, but the ****s so far wont budge.

My heart desperately goes out to Anne, but I cannot agree to rushing one inquest through. I cannot see any reason why 1 case will be any different to the other 95, they will all receive the same verdict. It is not as if some can be unlawful and other misadventure. And if there is to be any legal outcome that may result in someone going to gaol, it needs to be done properly. What is more important, one woman getting some piece of mind and some future trial collapsing on some technicality, or Anne taking satisfaction from the Report and the hopeful quashing of the existing verdicts, and then the new inquest being done spot on, with all i's dotted and t's crossed, and the then future possibility of real legal justice being done?

I don't want to be unkind to Anne, but she must comprehend that all 96 getting justice is far more important than her fulfilling a personal goal. I personally signed the petition for her, but for me the goal was over-turning the existing verdict. This has to be done properly, and I hope Anne can make peace with that.

  6. This...<ok>

I felt that this was a effort to speed things up by pulling on the heart strings but ultimately we all want to see the right outcomes and the right justice to be served.

    (I still signed it too)

I just struggle with the lengths that they went to it really beggars belief. I can appreciate what a few of you are saying though but still sucks.

Don't know if anyone saw the Panorama on the IPCC this week, but don't expect anything from them as they're riddled with crooked coppers and are as bent as a butcher's hook. They even got exemption from being interrogated over one death in custody case and were allowed to provide unchallenged statements vetted by their solicitor (sound familiar?) in case they "Put up the shutters and wouldn't co-operate). FFS, apart from politicians and journalists, is there any other section of the community who could get away with that? "You're to be questioned on a suspicious death, what do you have to say?", "Well I'm not answering questions, but if my solicitor can vet it I'll give you a written statement that you can't challenge"...."er okay then, don't want you to get a hissy fit and simply say you're not answering any questions at all"...

Against this backdrop it is vital that all t's are crossed and i's dotted. But don't be surprised that the Establishment want to drag this out for another 23 years in the hope that all the culprits will be Jimmy Saville style dead.
