This week he predicts us to win 2-1 while the person he is up against thinks we'll win 6-0! Optimistic lol! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20443753
How accurate are his predictions? It is good, though, that we aren't automatically put down as losing. Shows how one good result against a poor side gets pundits as excited as it gets Saints' fans.
The Geordie fans are very downbeat. They don't seem to rate their back up players. Hope we don't think this is in the bag!
Trouble is that we tend to do better when Lawro predicts us to lose! He predicted us to lose to QPR last week. Also against Man City and Man United. I know we lost those 2 but we played well. He predicted us to win against Wigan and Swansea.
It's unfortunate, as I'd thought that we would have a chance against a depleted Newcastle side. But Lawro has spoken, and as he's never right, I'm now resigned to a loss.
He's a plastic ManU fan but coming from a family of Saints supporters. Considering the relative predictions he's given ManU and Saints, I reckon his plastic side is slipping.
Ugh I just realised it's the Vaccines singer. In that case I hope we lose just so his plastic side gets stronger.
Lawro's predictions have nothing to do with the results. Correlation does not always imply causation.
At SMS, if Saints are in a shooting position I always lift my feet because this once preceded a goal (in the dim and distant past). The thousands of time this has not resulted in a goal has no effect on my actions. Nowt as daft as folk!
"It's fair to say not many Southampton fans expected Pardew to pop up back in the Premier League when he left them, having finished fourth in League One after a 10-point deduction increased the difficulty of promotion." Thats a quote from Lawro's article... I think he is part of the anti-cortese brigade who is convinced we sacked Pardew based purely on results. God forbid he do his research correctly, from what I remember the first full season under Pardew ended us in 7th after the 10 point deduction, and Pardew played a few matches the following season before losing his job. I know i'm sounding a bit paranoid but I have heard that Lawro was quoted as not liking the ownership at Saints, and the media generally have been almost trying to get Adkins sacked with their incessant rumour mill of lies. Still can't take it too seriously, look at the grief Mike Ashley got at Newcastle, they have done alright haven't they? Could have done worse, could have ended up with Rupert Lowe, or an ex pompey owner.
