Iv'e just noticed the chippy that was previously Austins of Hull and Harpers, both fine chippys, being under new ownership have changed their name to "The pride of Hull" ! They proudly proclaim on a lovely new frontage,The pride of HULL ! Fish, chips, burgers, pizza, kebabs !!! I folded my arms, bowed my head and sighed a heavy and heartfelt sigh. What if they all go this way,WHAT THEN ?
It probably started with some no mark asking for beans kempton thats what happens. Cave St mate accept nothing less.
Anybody living in the outlaying villages (West Side) tried the van(s) that sell Chippy? I go to the one in South Cave on a Tuesday (in The Bear Inn Car Park) and it's superb. £4 for a decent sized fish (skinned), with really good chips and peas. Think it goes to the Family Centre on Wednesdays, North Cave Village Hall on Thursdays and other places. There's one that appears at the Petrol Station near the roundabout on a Saturday that's supposed to be alright, but I've never bothered with it.
A chip van?? A chip van you say?? A chip van in N. Ferriby?? Tommy, HAVE YOU LOST YOUR ****ING MIND?? WE DO NOT ALLOW SUCH THINGS IN FERRIBY OF THE NORTH. South Cave I can believe. It's near Goole and full of social housing. A chip van would be well suited there. Best keep it there. Sheeeeeet.
I keep seeing those van things - Leconfield, Kingswood and Wawne Road in the last week alone. Never tried it though.
There's one on Melton Business Park on Tuesday's & Friday's...............lovely, good value, and extremely busy
When I was a young kid living in skirlaugh I used to love the fish and chip van. But I also preferred going to mill lane chippy in bev and my dad driving home as fast as possible so didn't go cold
Bizarrely enough her indoors mentioned that very van earlier this evening. She's purchasing foodstuffs from there tomorrow for lunch , which is all well and good but she reckons she's on a diet and a low carb one at that???????? Sheeeeeeeet.
The wife (mine not yours) also said she (which means both of us) is on a low carb diet. What did she cook for tea? Sausage egg and chips. Bless her
That Chippy van is always outside the village hall in Tickton every Wednesday after i finish work. (I'm assuming it's the same one as above- run by a man and a lass?) I'm always in a rush and too tired from the 5:30 am start to stay waiting for too long for a Patty & Chips.
Odd, tonight for the first time in years my tea tonight..... Sausage egg and chips! My favourite treat!
So you're telling me she's having an affair with Atkins, Adkins and Stuart? I think Stuart's is where mill lane chippy used to be?
