I've got a toon mate, after the Fulham match he couldn't have been more excited to know we were on the horizon. Hope we spoil his day big time!
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew: "We are getting blow after blow at the moment. Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse both got injured tonight. "We will have to wait and see about Papiss but Hatem will be missing on Sunday. "Hatem is a good player but isn't everything to this club. I don't know how long he will be out. "Papiss got a kick on the thigh. We thought he might stiffen up over half time and he did. He possibly has a chance for Sunday." So Ben Arfa is confirmed - he is OUT of Sunday's match.
So they should. There's a lot of history where Newcastle get beaten by Saints, either in style, or Matt Le Tissier pops a wonder goal or two past them, especially if Mike Hooper was the keeper. He must have had sleepless nights prior to a Saints game.
Yeah. And most of them are either suspended or injured. Their top class players: Cabaye - injured, Ben Arfa - injured, Cisse - doubtful, Coloccini - suspended, Ba, Tiote, maybe Santon. I wouldn't call the rest of them top class.
Top class First XI players such as Cisse, Ba, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, yes. The squad is not that great. Elliot? Perch? Tavernier? Ferguson? Bigirimana? Marveaux? The Ameobi's?
My short match thread record is rather good at the moment! First we beat QPR and now most of Newcastle's best players are ruled out! Now the power of my match thread will see us to victory on Sunday!
I haven't said he is suspended. The ones that are injured or suspended, I have put an injured or suspended next to their names. I was listing their better players in general.
I can remember a Fairs Cup game where they left the Dell with their tails between their legs even though they had Malcolm Macdonald in their side. I think we stuffed them in a Texaco cup game as well. Then there was that that famous victory where we won 3-2 at the Dell with Shipley and Watson scoring late to win the game. And then there was Matty.
Well there you go, StG. I can just about remember the Fairs Cup one as well because I remember the programme cover. I've always bought a programme. One shilling [1/-] in those days, of course.
Not sure if someone has pointed this out already but Newcastle are yet to win an away game this season; that, along with their bad form and our improving form surely give us all hope.
