Just read an article on Newsnow (apologies office IT won't let me post a link) tipping both Luke Shaw and Clyne for England honours in the next year!

Perhaps some-one else could post the link!

Shows how well Shaw in particular is regarded!

I can see Clyne making the senior squad breakthrough fairly soon, he's improving pretty much every match in my opinion, seems to be highly regarded by the U21 setup and his LB or RB versatility probably does him no harm.

Can't see Shaw doing the same any time particularly soon though, as far as I know he has only played for England U17s so far, I would expect him to at least feature for the U21s if not the U19s as well, before getting into the senior squad. Definitely a bright prospect though.

I would have though Ward-Prowse will start to play for the U21s in the near future as well.

Got there from Newsnow so guessing that's what you're referring to. JWP was third as well.

I'd be surprised if Shaw ended up as a winger because he's looked so solid defensively thusfar.

England are quite strong at the RB area IMO. Johnson, Walker, Richards but he never gets picked! Don't see Clyne breaking through, Kyle Naughton plays RB too.

Clyne is the real deal, and has everything except boots with studs. Even when he looses his man he has the speed to recover and a unique tackle that means he takes the ball when he is behind the other player. Without him and with the injuries to Richardson I would hate to think how crap our defense would be. Must have a serious shout of playing for England soon.

Richards is having a terrible time with injuries and Walker a terrible time on the pitch, Johnson is much criticised but definitely un-challenged no.1 right now probably, especially under Roy. Clyne could sneak into the squad at some stage though, just like Shaw and JWP, but I doubt any of them are anywhere near breaking through into the first spot. Clyne closest though, really rate him, looks the finished article already.

Lazy journalism. Shaw is nothing like Bale.

So, how many of those are Premier League first teamers. Yep, just our three.

Poor knowledge of the players, but I wouldn't argue with any of them being on that list. Wisdom of Liverpool has really impressed me this season.

These kinds of list are frequently just hype and other mostly non-footballing factors. But nice for our boys to get recognition regardless of any misrepresentation and inaccuracies.

I was beginning to think the true art of tackling had ended until I saw Clyne tackle a few players. His timing is excellent.

This is the thing that has truly impressed me. I knew he would be quick which is always good for players, especially defenders, to cover up mistakes and strengthen their play. I knew he would be pretty good going forward. But his tackling has been incredible and really impressive. And the more he plays he is reading the game better.

Man United can have Buttner, because they missed a trick with Clyne!

If Clyne was a few inches taller and wore appropriate footwear, he would be the complete full back!

One yellow card in eleven starts (roughly 1000 minutes played, when including stoppage time), despite playing against some exceptional wide players, and having no reservations about going to ground. He must have otherworldly coordination; he's plucked the ball away from players on a number of occasions where the slightest miss would have ended up with a crunched ankle and a yellow...or worse.

He made a tackle against a ManU player where I thought the ball was going to burst. The noise of the slam as he got the ball off the player was very loud indeed. He promptly passed to Puncheon in space, who gave it away, and Utd nearly scored [or actually might have done]. He's much more than a good prospect. I'm very pleased he's with us, although Crystal Palce seem to be doing all right without him.
