I know what your getting at, but most civilised societies would consider Racism to be a bad thing, so I don't think we should be afraid of asserting a moral code when it's generally conceived to be the right thing to do.
I can't disagree regarding racism. However, I still find the concept of a government, or some other outside force being appointed, or worse as in Herbert's case, appointing themselves as the arbiter of what is the common good, somewhat disturbing.
Today's Millwall v Leeds game has apparently seen Diouf racially abused by Millwall fans and Adam Smith subjected to anti-Semitic abuse by Leeds fans.
Surely not those gentle Leeds fans? I thought Spurs and Clattenburg were the apex of racism in the game.
Herbert's now declared that Jewish fans using the word yid should be arrested and charged. I'd call him a prick, but he might report me.
I think we can all guess the next target for Herbert's insanity... This bloke is showing Jack Thompson levels of psychosis. (Before anyone asks, Jack Thompson was a Florida lawyer determined to prove that video games - especially anything by Rockstar, such as GTA, Manhunt or Bully...which he damned based on its title a good 18 months before it was released - before he was eventually disbarred due to numerous counts of professional misconduct, notably making defamatory and false statements about people, and attempting to harass, humiliate or intimidating those who disagreed with him. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?)
I love Jack Thompson. The guy's ****ing hilarious! A quote that somebody said about him is extremely appropriate right now, too: his campaign was achieving "two things...: pissing everybody off and compounding his own celebrity." Nail on head.
I'd forgotten all about the deadline. I hope he's going down to WHL on the weekend to make some citizens arrests, that'll be great to watch
John Barnes rubbished Herbert over the weekend, " he should stick to his job defending people when instructed too, not look for racism issues that aren't there"...cheers John!
Sounds pretty much spot on to me. I'm sure that Peskie will be along shortly to explain to us why it isn't, though
Herbert has every right to be tackling the problems that affect the non white community. As a mixed raced man what is more worrying to me? The fact a police officer admitted calling a man in custody a ****** (in the back of a police van surrounded by other police). The Police officer admitted it as it had been recorded on a mobile phone. The officer went to trial...he claimed that he was showing the man he needed to have pride in himself by saying "The trouble with you is you are a ****** and always will be". The man was aquitted of racism. Why would I want peter herbert screaming about the injustice of this case instead of doing the fine job of calling me a racist for referring to myself as a yiddo? I can't wait until he screams for all of us with rap records by NWA to be arrested.
