One stupid chapter close and the next stupid one opens.
Why don't they all grow up. If my grandchildren behaved as badly as footballers and those associated with it did, I would be giving them a telling off.

But there's this stuff about the FA acknowledging that the complaint was made in good faith.

At least from now on the on field conversations had between the referee and the players will be recorded so false or malicious allegations can be quickly dealt with. A small step forward but a much needed one!

Chelsea are in no position to make comments about racism or anti semitism.

Beat me to it Wonky, I was going to start a new thread with this, but will just park it here now. <ok>

So now that Mark Clattenburg has been cleared by the police and the FA, what now for those who made the false accusations?

Are Chelsea culpable in allowing Mikel to continue with his false claims?
    Is Mikel a racist?
Did Chelsea see this as a way of getting back at the FA for the Terry incident?
Should the FA and the Police take action against Chelsea?
How has this affected Clattenburg's life, now and in the future?
The next time he gives a dubious decision against a black player will he be called a racist again?

The whole thing STINKS, and Chelsea football club and everyone concerned with it are vindictive idiots, I just hope that the FA throw's the book at them. A fine won't wash with most sensible people, it has to be points deduction, something that sends a message that this sort of wild insane accusation will not be tolerated.

Oh yes the Chelsea chant, I forgot: We are Chelsea and we do what we want!

I fully agree with the need for a sanction against Chelski, the problem is though that the FA don't want to discourage people coming forward if they feel they've been racially abused. Bringing this closer to home, if Tettey thinks he's heard Bassong being abused racially, you'd expect him to tell CH, etc, that it happened. You don't want the club to have to turn around and say, yeah, we think it happened, but won't press charges because if we lose in court, the points we lose will relegate us?

Edit: Incidently, I didn't pick those two players because they're black, they were picked because I thought they probably had the weakest grip on the english language. Perhaps Garrido would have been a better choice. It'd be wrong to think that only black people get abused racially. (Also, is 'black' the current PC term? If not, sorry to anyone who feels I've been offensive)

I don't like what's happened and maybe it is time for the converation that goes on between the officials to be recorded. ILD, as you say, how has this affected Clattenburg's life and Chelsea should be handed a meaningful punishment - a mere fine isn't going to suffice!!!

As none of us were privvy to the alleged offence being committed, how is it possible to deduct points from Chelsea? If their player, John Obi Mikel, came to them and said, "The referee called me a monkey," are Chelsea supposed to do nothing just in case their player has lied to them, or maybe not even lied, perhaps just mis-understood!

    It's a legal minefield imho!

Obviously Mikel lied to his employers, his employers just took his word for it, so Chelsea need to disipline Mikel, and the club itself needs to look at procedures. Don't forget it's not the first time one or two of their players have lied about racism, Terry lied about what he said to Ferdinand and Cole lied to defend Terry, It's obviously rife in that club and needs to be stamped out by the authorities.
