I've just checked and it will be purchased with some debt, a large investment from an Allam family trust and a major grant from Sport England.
I think the timing of this open letter is the most significant. This has gone public in the last paper to be printed before the first votes are cast tomorrow. Whether it's Minns or Brady who controls the council on Friday, after this there is no doubt that the future of the KC will be top of the "to do" list.
What happened to the Guy Ian Richardson, Didnt he bump into the Allams down in London when they were both in discussions to buy city?? Just wonder what investors the Allams have lined up once city have there own Assets. As long as the Stadium will always be owned by Hull city and cant be sold from underneath its feet its a no brainer.
a new site will be needed for hull fair? how about 60 miles down the motorway , with the rest of the hedgehog eating pikies..
The more you think about this the more it becomes apparent that the timing is the key issue. They have the summer to work on a new cabinet at the city council. It is merely allams way of emphasising the role he'll have to play in the future alongside new or existing elected members. If the city as a whole gets behind his plans he knows the new cabinet will want to be seen to support his plans. And he clearly knows how much more support he'll have for the kc ideas as opposed to Melton, which probably isn't even a viable option in any case.
do you think its any coincidence that mr duffen was involved in in the original plans for melton, last weeks appeasement meeting took place, there's an election tomorrow which will result in a more consiliatory council chamber and todayls high profile announcement. Do we know who ultimately actually bought this proposed training ground land pending the planning permission?
No-one bought the land, the club just had an option on it, which they haven't exercised(I don't know if the deadline on that option was extended, Farmer Tiger on 606 seemed to be the most informed, but I haven't seen him post recently). As far as I know, the proposed site for a new stadium at Melton(which is never going to happen), is a different site to the one the training ground was going to be at.
From the plans I saw of the proposed training ground that I got off someone I know from north ferriby and the plans in the paper the site that is proposed at melton is the same as the the land we had first option on.
You may well be right, I haven't looked at it in any detail yet, but the original site was designated farmland, which could only be used for training pitches. There is no chance of planning permission to build anything on the majority of the site for the training ground, yet as far as I remember(I only glanced at it), the new Melton proposal has buildings all over it?
there are a number of issues with the land theyve proposed to be fair, firstly its hemmed in by a railway line which everyone would have to cross to fget to the facility, secondly it is right next to the humber and although this could be good in some aspects it does lead to fogs rolling in which take visibility down to nearly zero (having worked at brough for 10 years i know this to be true). plus the A63 would be absolute carnage on a match day especially after the final whistle. On the plus side though it is adjacent to the old cappa pass site so the pitch will probably glow eradicating the need for flood lights.
Am all for the move to Melton. With our current crop of ex-Manchester players to make them feel more at home we can rename club to Melchester Rovers. Just need to find and sign a player named called Roy Race and the footballing world is ours.
Just a thought, I'm guessing the stadium extention is a copy of the west stand upper on the east. Would that take up all the parking spaces and the path on the hill?
From the plans in the paper it would appear that it is a straight small extension to the south, east and north. But I would appear that the parking would be effected but the path to the bridge would not.
Anyone who thinks that the club buying the stadium is a bad thing is a complete idiot, how can owning some actual assets be bad thing? Or we can own no assets and go into liquidation if we ever going into financial trouble again? I think we will find out a lot more now the elections are over (Well hour and 18 minutes), and tbh i think whoever is in will sell eventually, just one maybe harder than the others. Speaking to Carl Minns i doubt he is really to interested in the club, but more interest in as much as he can get. Which is fair play, thats his job! Either way i trust the Allams, AP and everyone involved
Thinking about how far the extra bits on the West Stand come out I'd agree with that as well. There's no way they'd come out past the outside edge of the surrounding road so the pedestrian access would be unaffected, although the parking would be taken out.
