    can't agree more
shouldn't someone on chelsea get punished though ? i can see many clubs will do that on slightest suspicion with little evidence damaging refs integrity, his life and bullying refs
chelsea should had never went publicly and raised the issue to FA if they were not sure
ironically things went downhill to chelsea since that day ... Karma?

No surprise that there was no case to answer to be honest, I'm not really surprised that Chelsea showed a further lack of class by deciding not to make a small apology to Clattenburg in their statement following the decision neither.

that will be soft.. remember he went to Clattenburg dressing room and kind bullied him too not to mention all accusation that led to Clattenburg living a life of hell and missing 4 weeks .. i doubt FA will treat it that softly ybh

What about the "I will break your legs" comment said from another player?

What amuses me is you fellas assuming malice where none exists. Chelsea, as the employer of Mikel, had a duty to investigate. They reported to the FA that a racist comment might have been made to one of their players.

Wouldn't you want your employer to do the same thing?

Chelsea Peon: So Mikel you want to make a complaint that Clattenburg racially abused you?

    Mikel: Yes.

Chelsea Peon: So what did he say to you?

Mikel: I didn't hear anything but Ramires told me he said something racially abusive.

    *Fetches Ramirez*

Chelsea Peon: So you heard the racial abuse?

Ramirez: I heard something but I didn't really understand it.

Chelsea Peon: How did you know it was Racist?

    Ramirez: Mikel told me.

Chelsea Peon: <doh> Did anyone else hear anything?

    *Silence*

Chelsea Peon: Screw it! lets complain anyway.

I agree with you to an extent, but there was malice on the part of Chelsea in other areas. Firstly Chelsea actively reported to the media that they had made a report to the match delegate, almost certainly knowing that this would result in Clattenburg missing games regardless of the outcome. Secondly there's the evidence of Chelsea's players barging into the ref's dressing room and having a go at him. It does raise the question of the extent to which the whole allegation, and Chelsea's willingness to report it without evidence and tell the media about it, was an attempt to deflect from their own players' conduct after the match.

Can you say with absolute certainty that there was no malice? Of course you are right that Chelsea had a duty to investigate the allegation, but could they really have done enough of an investigation within the 40 minutes or so before the story was being conveniently leaked, especially considering the key witnesses for the accusation can barely string a sentence together in English between them?
