The stat I saw yesterday was 86 million, more than the net transfer spend of Everton in the entire Premier League era.

Two very contrasting ways to run a club...

 

I agree, but therein lies the problem - we'll never know. The only fact is that he has won trophies by chopping and changing on a regular basis.

 

"Interim" manager? Surely anyone who takes over at Chelsea is "interim"... or any football club, it's not exactly a tenured position save the likes of Fergie, Wenger and Dario Gradi.

 

"Interim" manager with 26 games of a 38 game season to go. Anyway I've never really got the dislike for Rafa, although he did buy some right crap at LFC.

Torres wasn't a bad one though... goals, goals, goals. Then the club sold him for £50m. Ker-ching.

 

Although about 10 minutes later Liverpool kindly donated most of it to Newcastle.

 

And the rest of it to Ajax... but that was okay.

 

I don't think it's Benitez who buys flops, it's Liverpool in general! Henderson, Downing, Adam...

 

Liverpool used to have a fantastic front 3, Crouch, Kuyt & Voronin. They could tear any defence apart.

You could say the same when they had Stan Collymore, Fowler, etc... I didn't see them get close to winning any Premier League trophy with that line up either.

This is what Chelsea fans really want. They don't give much of a toss about Champions League. It's nice, but it isn't the same. The League is the real measure. I'm dubious that Benitez knows how to win a Premier League trophy.
