Just started my training for a 51 mile Cycle ride (from Glasgow to Edinburgh) in September. Not been on a bike since this time last year, since mines was nicked, so this morning was pretty tough! How long, with rest stops, shouls it realistically take... I'm thinking about 6 hours. Nice steady pace - not going full pelt
I think we all know what happened last time I tried an iron man challenge, so you can be safe in the knowledge I would end up getting hurt in some way (not a gay way)
Getting hurt is a stick on... My knees are shot to bits, so they were strapped up to **** thsi mornig - looked like Mumra (bandagemuir>
That's soem pace Dougie... I'll see hwo I get on with getting fitter the now... Maybe last year when I was two stone lighter and out on my bike every morning, not now! Will get swimming as well to build up some stamina (and lose some poundage!)
I'l get teh wife to drive me, so I can get a nice wee sit down! Trains are always mobbed ... especially wi cunst and their bikes!
i used to be able to average 20mph easily for about 40 mins at a time, theres no chance i would manage that these days though, 10mph whould b e a struggle
Buying a padded seat - had one when I did another cycle ride 2 year ago ... ****ing magic. Very comfy!
i used my brothers bike, i was taking breaks to sit on rocks because they were comfier. i considered stuffing heather down the back of my shorts at one point but then thought about ticks.
Guy who did the bike ride 2 year ago did the 50 miles on a racer. The seat was like a razor blade and he had no padding ... Must have torn him a new arsehoel or 4!
