So, having announced that a friend of mine and i had decided to go for the Marathon in 2014, we got very cold feet and agreed that we wouldn't be up to it. So..we've now decided to go for the Great South Run next October instead. I'm still very scared, but 10 miles sounds a lot better than 26.2! And who knows, i may feel i can do a marathon after that...though i think if we do well in October, our next challenge will be a half marathon..wouldn't want to get too above ourselves! lol.

Watch this space for further updates!

13Kg down in 11 weeks, body fat down from 29.9% to 21% waist reduced from 42" to 36", its all self discipline and even running now targeting a 10k in april, less weight equals less impact damage..... greatest motivator the mrs moaning!!! and not in delight!! Jealous....it's my intention to kick start my ageing body into some form of health before its tooooo late..( after Christmas though !) started running a summer or so ago - but somehow ended up with a trapped nerve in my neck which took all get up and go out of me. Found it easier to stop. Play badminton nearly weekly which keeps some semblance of fitness...but :(

I have decided I WILL have to get in shape and my instructor has told me I will be grading in December. This will entail 4 hours of all out hard work and then another hour of technical work. I am going to collapse!!

Walking running and eating slightly less but cutting out refined sugar. Had a few blowouts in that time including a 9 pint guinness night!! Key I think is I love numbers and tracking so I use myfitnesspal.com to log everything and keep my calorie intake to a net 1800 which gives me a theoretical pound a week weight loss but by keeping metabolism up by exercise first thing in morning (sometimes but definitely breakfast), a lunchtime walk BEFORE eating I'm at double theoretiical loss so the key is upping metabolism. When I dropped to 100Kg (first 6 down and 7 since then) I started weights to tone and increase muscle as more muscle = more energy consumption at rest = more allowance for calorie in and a good chance of keeping the fat weight off. It was a real eye opener when I was at 10Kg loss to put that 10Kg in a back pack and cart it about. I don't want it back thats for sure!!!!

I thought it was the Bridge of Don;) it has been a few years since I have up that way:( Used to love a good night out in the Granite City;)

My weight loss is slowing down, so perhaps I need to start toning as well<yikes> As all I have done is on the exercise bike as dodgy knees don't allow for running, when I started this regime I did do weights but on day one my elbow went<yikes> but since I have had the cortisone injection it has felt ok. Just need to test it now, hopefully after the weekend once the snivels have gone<laugh>

Granite City? Shouldn't that read Furry Boot City - as it is known by the rest of Scotland? ;)

Bridge of Don and Bridge of Dee are correct could live near either, Dons the one in the North close to the delights of Seaton and more seriously decent golf courses Dees the one in the south where you cross going on the southbound A90 to Dundee as you leave the city Garthdee and the west end cove and torry all close. I've also had knee trouble which stopped me running etc a few years ago hence the weight gain but started losing to put less stress on knees before doing any running and also had some acid injections in the knees. My elbow went with tennis elbow about 3 months ago just prior to me starting this regime and I've been light on any tricep movements, I also had cortisone injection which settled it for all of a day but I strongly believe building strength and exercise is the best protection I can get from injury, my lower back is now much more stable just from walking and concentrating on contracting the transversus abs whilst doing so. I can feel myself walking taller and posture is improved. Go on MFP (myfitnesspal) and read some of the success stories, its amazing what people are doing and its all through taking control instead of being controlled in terms of lifestyle and if you read the food diaries its not that you need to deny yourself culinary pleasure, just be sensible....
