I would think if they offered 5 mill we would take it. I dont think we would stand in his way of playing in the PL.
Not if it cost us a place in the PL. No i would not. The bigger picture has to be the £80m approx. PL riches from next season.
Maybe but there was a reason why MON walked away from Villa when they were doing so well. I think that Lerner is looking for an out @ Villa. Then they would not be the owners we think they are and Steve Bruce may also have a word to say about it.
There are other reasons why managers tend to leave other than no money. He might be over powering rather tahn stingy. He might want to pick the team. If someone in the prem was daft enough to pay £10 million for one of our players, irrespective of where they were in the top flight, then he'd be off straight away. I'd agree with you about the offer of £1.5, it's a joke, and i think he'll stay.
I am pretty sure that it was said when Pearson was trying to buy everyone that we would not stand in the way of our young players going into the PL if a PL club came in for them.
Lets wait and see eh ? We have been down the Chester road many times before. Nowt came of it. Well Hull City could well be that PL club by the way.!!! Just saying like.
I agree. Maybe we would tell Chester that if we didnt go up this season we would let him go. He wont stay with us long if legitimate offers from PL clubs come in.
If only one of our posters knew Chesters old boy well enough to give him a bell and have a word with him eh?
Anyone who thinks we'd turn down £10m for any of our players is mental. Completely ****ing mental. Possibly even certifiable.
Chester will continue to be linked with the Villas and Evertons of this world but I ma sure the lad is level headed enough to know he isn't quite yet the finished article for the PL. I do get the feeling he would be more than happy to play in the PL with us if that arrives sooner rather than later with a promotion to savour.
IF Chester leaves in January why would he choose Villa - a team we could quite easily swap places with this season?
Prices for English players are way inflated lately so it could happen. He wouldn't be the first Championship player to go for crazy money. The thing we need to do though is make sure his contract gets sorted out. He's on a relatively low wage at the moment, especially as he's one of our best players, and it's taking far too long to get him tied up on a new deal. It'll make him more likely to stay when he's on a wage proportionate to his ability and more time on his deal will make him worth far more when we do eventually lose him. If he went in January we probably wouldn't get anywhere near what we'd get if he was on a 4-year deal.
I agree and hope he does sign a new deal but I'm not sure he will commit until the summer when he knows what league we are in next season
We've just been talking to them about Given coming on loan. Reporters 2+2=5 and make up a few quotes to back it up in the hope they can get the "we told you first" line?
